Last night I tuned in to 6-1, and my STB indicated that the signal is HD.  Did Fox 6-DT switch to 720P?  I think it used to say SD for that channel.  Can anyone else verify this?

lol.. can anyone else verify this.. what are you, a comedian?

yeah, sure.. let me just run up to my antenna, swivel it over about 10°, and hope that I can pick up that 9v signal...

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Yup... 720p.  Guess it's time to update the homepage!

Thanks.  Now if they get the antenna up on the big stick before the NFL season, they will make more members of this forum happy.

So why is this a big deal when FOX is not currently broadcasting any HD content, only widescreen?? It only implies that the station is ready when Fox is ready. Or am I missing something here?

Last night I watched the only show of interest to me on FOX now that "Wonderfalls" is off the air :

"24" and the picture seemed a little better than usual, must have been an 720p-upconversion:

If it wasn't HD, it sure looked better than last week!

As for anything else on FOX, they are advertising that there is a new Fall season - in June, or so they say,
so maybe some of these shows have been done in HD.

FYI:

gb4fan92 : I know it isn't "Packer Season" yet, but some of us like other programmes and they, too, will be in HD very soon.:)

Thank you very much!

What makes you think it was up-converted? Do we know for sure that the mother network is not sending to our local in 720p?

For that matter, how do we ever know, other than PQ, that the source is HD and not widescreen SD up-converting at the local station?

The Law

When I watched it, it still said on the bottom "Presented in Fox Widescreen" - nothing about HD......

Most network shows have a banner near the beginning telling you if it's in HD.  For PBS, they tell you before the show.  Fox will definitely follow suit, I would think.

AFAIK, the first Fox HD presentation will be the All-Star game... I wouldn't bother looking for any HD before that.

So any new info about the new tower??? anyone? anyone?!?!?

Paul S.

"24" was in 480p. I checked ;) The picture did look better- not as dark as usual.

You were lucky to see 24 in "HD" this week, FoxHD (506) has been off the air since Monday for me.  I called and they tried resetting the box like 3 times but nothing so have a tech coming out tomorrow to check it out.  Also have pixelation and dropouts on some of the other HD channels...

I have now been in contact with someone at Fox 6. While I didn't receive permission to share with the board what I was told, I think it is within my right to say that in the near future many should be very pleased with things the station is currently working on. Unfortunately I have to leave it at that so please don't ask for further info.

Oh, I guess I can also say, being that it is basically public knowledge anyway, that I have in fact confirmed they are sending out a 720p signal, both to TWC and OTA.
