HD DVD recorder

I cannot buy one, therefore it is vaporware.  But even if I could, I'd be concerned about the life of the laser diode.  I believe that short laser life span has been the major hold up on this technology. Yes. sooner or later, all things come to he who waits.  My main point was simply to repond to the original post that it is possible, using gear we have now, to save HD to DVD at good quality and low cost.  Tod
