Shame on ABC

So I invited bunch of my friends over for the game tonight in hopes of showing everyone a great picture on my 65 HDTV. I knew the game wasn't going to be high def but I expected the upconvert to be much better then DirectTV's 12. I mean after all every CBS game was very good quality upconverted. ABC game, unfortunatelly, is horrible. The picture was more distorted on OTA 34 then the compressed DirectTV signal. Oh and the sound, 6.1 audio broadcast amplifies audience sounds ten folds and make the announcers barely, barely audible. You have gotta work on that.

P.S. Perhaps I'm a little harsher then I should be but jesus, whoever expected Packers to fall behind crappy Vikings team on the home turf. Damn it I need another beer.

This was not an ABC game, it was ESPN. I know... same company, but for some reason their broadcasts are very different. Monday Night football on ABC 34-1 has been spectacular.

Has anyone had any luck watching MNF on channel 512 (TWC)? I've only had my box for a few weeks, but whenever I'd check during the game, I get those horrible black bars on the sides, and I refuse to watch that garbage.

I watched the game on 512 with my Toshiba stretched, it was better then analog 12.

ESPN in the last year has had their PQ go right down the toilet. DirecTV shoving more and more locals on, etc really takes its toll on the compression limits. I remember about 5 years ago when I first got DirecTv, damn the PQ was fan-freaking-tastic!!! colors were vibrant, very high quality picture. Hasnt been that way since they started doing all the locals.
ESPN-HD on the other hand should be terrific.
