Hey RobbQ,
You  don't by chance live on 68th street, just south of Milwaukee Ave. do you ? The reason I ask is someone on that street just got one of those new Dish Superdishes installed, and they are pretty impressive looking for a satellite dish.  I didn't realize how friggin big they are.

:p

Matt

Nope, that's not me.  I am not sure why but it doesn't seem that big to me though it does have a nice strong signal on all three sats.  I am somewhat tempted to go up with a can of paint and get rid of the HDTV logo off of it... I have not decided if that would attract thieves or not.

Laprok,

Do your research first.  See what is best for you and best fits your needs.  There are so many options nowadays.  TWC, Dish Network, Direct TV, and VOOM.  There are advantages and disadvantages with each service.  If you want the most HD programming....go with VOOM.  Over 30+ channels of 24/7 HD content.  $9.95/month equipment charge, free install, and competitive pricing on programming packages.  Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.  TWC offers a good selection of programming and packages, but the programming package pricing is more per month.  Direct Tv has the best satelite HD/OTA HD receiver boxes, but the equipment is expensive and will cost you a lot up front.

I personally have Dish Network.  I decided to go with Dish because they were offering a pretty sweet deal a few months ago for newbies.  Free installation, Free Satelite receiver which doubles has OTA HD receiver as well.....Dish 811 receiver, 1 dish for both sd and HD satelite signals, and the lowest programming for satelite tv service.  Yeah, some might say that Dish has "buggy" hardware at the time of their release, i.e. 811 receiver, but hell most issues have been resolved with the latest software downloads.  I don't get my local channels from Dish because they are not in HD, but who really cares?  You can get local HD channels OTA with antenna.  I get my local channels with a Winegard Square SHooter antenna.  I get all channels with exception of Fox.  My NBC is sketchy and the signal is not always up to par so I lose the signal often.  Other than that, I've enjoyed the Super Bowl, Nascar, various movies and primetime shows in in all their HD glory.  My current programming package is $24.99 for 60 channels and $9.99 for my dish HD package.....which is all I really need and have time to watch anyways.    Oh yeah, you are able to stretch 4x3 sd signals to 16x9 with the 811 receiver also.

crumb snatcher - so you can get 1-1 now?

Borghe......YES, I can get 1.1 now.  Amen to that!  It was fixed at the beginning of March.  I guess enough Dish customers complained and the engineers  decided to do something about it.
The funny thing now is, did WDJT remap it's digital channel to 46?  My receiver refuses to display it as channel 1.1 now, but instead channel 46.  Go figure, ey?

don't know.. DirecTV forces my box to map  46-1 to 58-1. I have never used 1-1...

My Directv box shows 58.1 ect but that is because it gets program guide from the Satellite.  I really receive it all on 1.1 ect. where the digital scan finds it.  If I click on 58.1, it'll just say no signal.
