VOOM HD Originals Channel Scores With World Class Soccer Match

JERICHO, N.Y., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- As two of the world's top soccer teams play out their longstanding rivalry on a field in Spain, VOOM subscribers will have a front-row ticket to witness every kick, tackle and goal. WorldSport HD, one of the VOOM HD Originals, will telecast live the upcoming battle between Real Madrid and Barcelona in breathtaking, crystal-clear high-definition (HD). The match between these two major players in the Spanish Primera Liga (Premiere League) will take place on either April 24 or 25, 2004 (exact date and time to be announced by Primera Liga by April 17, 2004).
The Real Madrid versus Barcelona match-up is a much-anticipated follow-up to the teams' first meeting on December 6, 2003, which also aired on WorldSport HD. The HD viewing experience transported fans in the U.S. to the sidelines in Barcelona for the narrow one-point win for David Beckham, Ronaldo and the Real Madrid team. The clash between these two giants of the game is one of the most exciting in world soccer, and the passion and drama of these and other Primera Liga games can only be experienced in HD in the U.S. on WorldSport HD.

"WorldSport HD provides the exciting experience of watching soccer through the brilliance of high-definition," said Gregory Moyer, President, Regional Programming for Rainbow Media Holdings, creators of WorldSport HD. "The advantage of HD is the viewers feel as if they are actually at the match, standing behind Beckham as he attempts a penalty kick."

WorldSport HD features exclusive coverage of more than 50 international soccer matches. All games are shot in native HD, including Spanish Primera Liga, Spanish Cup, UEFA Cup (Union of European Football, Associations, the governing body of soccer for Europe) and Friendly matches.

WorldSport HD is one of the VOOM HD Originals, an all-inclusive package of 21 commercial-free channels created by Rainbow Media and available exclusively to subscribers of VOOM, the first television service to offer a comprehensive array of HD programming to customers throughout the continental United States. In addition to WorldSport HD, the VOOM HD Originals include an inside look at exclusive live auctions on Auction HD; unique animation entertainment on Animania HD; artistic masterpieces from around the world on Gallery HD; spine-chilling movies brought to life in hi-def on Monsters HD; 24/7 news shot in native HD on HDNews; experimental non-narrative video art on MOOV; the latest pop music concerts on Rave HD; in-your-face action sports on Rush HD; the best in fashion, food and fine living on Ultra HD; and HD Cinema 10, a 10- channel multiplex of uncut, commercial-free movies in HD.

man, would love to see becks, zidane, renaldo..et al in HD.  Now here is where I wish I had sat to get this!!!

Hopefully this can make it's way to cable someday.

Is there a list of bars in Milw. that have HD, SAT, VOOM and Real Madrid games?

Remember - MLS Starts this weekend in HD (I'll have to miss it, in Ohio) however - the April 10th will feature DC United and the 14 (yes 14!) year old phonom - Freddy Adu.  In glorious HD on HDNet.
