03/15/04 — ViewSonic is about to make TV a whole lot nicer. The manufacturer of visual displays has announced the NextVision HD10, a high-definition tuner that allows users to enjoy over-the-air digital programming on any HDTV-ready set. No subscription fees or contracts needed.

The HD10 provides clear reception of the growing number of high definition, enhanced and standard TV signals available on local broadcast stations. The tuner is designed for VHF, UHF and all 18 ATSC signal formats and it is compatible with any display device that has component, composite or S-Video inputs. It supports all TV scanning formats (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i) and displays content in both 16:9 widescreen and 4:3 aspect ratios. An electronic programming guide is available in the HDTV channel range.

The HD10 will be available through ViewSonic resellers, distributors, mail order and retail outlets starting in April. The estimated street price is $399. -- Rachel Cericola
