Well I was hoping the DVI firmware upgrade that took place
last week, would get rid of the lag when switching between HD channels, but the problem is still there!

Here is my setup:

Sony xbr910 with DVI hookup to Pioneer HD BOX.

The problem:

When switching between HD channels using channel up/down it takes 4 seconds, when using the menu and selecting an HD channel it takes 9 seconds!!! Non-HD Channels are under 1second.

When using component, channel changing is under 1 second.

Directv channel changing is under 1 second with DVI.

Is it the box, TWC, or my new Sony????

Still doesn't work with Sanyo Projectors.

The upgrade was supposed to fix several incompatibilities.
From what I understand, DVI is a managed connection... meaning there is 2-way communication between the display device and source.  That being said, the set top and TV need to communicate and negotiate a connection every time the channel is changed.  One channel will be 1080i, the next 720p etc...  at least in the cable world.  Maybe DTV reformats to a single format, while cable passed on all native formats.  That, along with hardware differences in the set top could be to blame.
Regardless, I see no difference between component & DVI.  In addition, using the Interactive Program Guide was a pain over DVI, so I prefer to use the component ports.
