iControl Movies in HD?

Hey all,

I'm a recent subscriber to TWC's digital/HD package, so to have all my programming in one spot, without having to switch over to the OTA input is very nice.  Every once in a while I'll catch a movie in HD on ABC, and my my, doesn't that look schweet!.  One reason I went to TWC was to save myself a trip to the movie store and take advantage of the iControl movies.  Anyone know when they'll combine the best of both worlds and offer iControl movies in HD? I'm sure there's existing issues I'm unaware of, of why they can't do it now, but any info would be appreciated.  Sorry if this has been answered somewhere already, but I didn't find anything in my searching.

Thanks!

It's well under development.  In the meantime, I have suggested to one corporate contact that some titles be made available in anamaphoric format, so one can stretch the screen for widescreen 480i.  Still no word...
IMO, I would be surprised if HD-VOD isn't launched before year's end.

It's nice to see that some of the inDemand/iControl films are in Widescreen.  A step in the right direction.  Once they do send this out, will they be recordable using the DVR?

In my humble opinion, I think TWC is doing a great thing with setting up a single source for entertainment.  Who would have dreamed not 5 years ago all this:

1)  High Speed (very high speed) Internet - the stuff many businesses don't even have.
2)  Movies you can rent for chump change whenever you feel like it - stop pause, etc.
3)  HiDef - Clearest picture and surround sound ever imagined on a TV
4)  DVR
5)  On-screen TV Guide
6)  Compatibility w/different ratiod TV Screens

...and, most importantly, all from a single, fully warranteed, upgradable for life, cable box.

btw - don't work for TWC, never have.  Just enjoy the product.  Probably because I'm not a techno-hobbyist :)

Good question... I'm not sure about the answer.  I don't think you can record the SD VOD stuff now, so my guess will be no.

My guess would be hell no.

I like what I'm hearing from you mhz40, and The Law, I totally agree.  I'm a pretty big computer nerd, so I've had RR since day one of it's availability, and have had a total of probably 1.5 days (if that) of downtime in the 3+ years or whatever it's been.  I'm loving the Disc HD Theater, and if the iControl HD are just around the corner, I'm even more excited! We rip on TCW sometimes in these forums, but considering all they offer us in the market, I think they're doing a pretty damn good job.   (no affiliation with them either :D)

Thanks guys!

Sibby, I agree with you. More HD channels and a HD DVR box on the way that doesn't cost a thousand dollars!:)
The only thing the dish offers that cable doesn't (here in SE Wisc) is ESPN-HD.
But some say the analog TWC offers is not as clear as satellite, but my SA 8000 DVR does a decent job of sound and picture off the hard drive and it too, didn't cost me a hundred dollars and if it goes out, I just exchange it for another one.
Once I figured out how to operate it, it works fine. The only thing I miss is the ability to spell out the name of a show like the Tivo has and here I just get one letter...or go to genre for search. Otherwise it's pretty cool.;)
Direct and DishNetwork are missing a golden opportunity to offer more HD non-local networks like VOOM is...this would be their edge on cable, but no announcement of new offerings have occurred.
It seems like they are more interested in the free box deals for 3 rooms (in SD) and more local-channel SD delivery than HD channel additions. Too bad. :guns:
IMO, the Voom HD channel offerings have yet to wake them up!
