When I tuned in for 60 minutes, I had no sound at all. It was back on later in the night when I checked.

Thank you for keeping the communication lines open.  I hope more local stations follow your lead.  Please continue to keep us informed.

Thank you,

Dear CBS-HDTV Viewers:

We have been working on the audio popping issues for sometime now and hopefully we have it solved.  New receivers and new software have been implemented today to hopefully correct the problems that we have been experiencing.

Additionally, some of you who view our DTV signal over-the-air will see additional channels lighting up as we prepare for the 2004 NCAA Basketball Tournament and our multicasts of all the games.

Thanks for Watching

Pops, Drops, clicks, sputers, White Noise.... making Survivor unwatchable...

Even "Loss of Input Signal" periodic messages... OTA and and TWC...

Apparently it's not fixed.  Hope they get it repaired in time for CSI....

Looking more and more like a software problem.

Todd Wiedemann

Yes. Here too. Absolutely unwatchable.

CSI was ruined. I cannot watch that show anymore when it's not in HD. Survivor looks so much better on TWC 505 than on 005 too, but the pops are killing me.  As far as I'm concerned, you have 6 days to fix it until I need to watch CBS again.

I spoke with someone in their engineering group today.  They are having problems integrating some of the new gear being readied for March Madness and are working on the problem.

What Popping?  I don't smell any melting butter.   To tell you the truth, I can't stay on a 58 HD program long enough to notice.  I have more of a problem trying to tolerate the JERKY video than to put up with a little popping noise.  Anyone want to tell me why I can receive WTMJ,WISN and MPTV-HD with nearly flawless video and WDJT 58's HD is almost always JERKY? Especially on any scenes with moderate to fast motion.  It wouldn't be because their trying to put 19.2 pounds of "CRAP! CBS 58D Popping like crazy." along with 4 or 5 other 5 pound loads into a 19.2 pound bag, is it?

CBS 58 has popping audio problems all the time. I have their night number programmed into my speed dial. Every time I call them and let them know it is popping again, a couple of minutes later, they drop out of HD and go to 4:3 mode and the audio goes to normal.

Yep, I noticed it during Survivor on Thursday, which is not even in HD. The sound was terrible. It improved a bit during CSI in HD, but the picture dropped out of HD several times.

I think I've got it figured out.  No one else seems to be complaining about the jerky video at times on 58 HD programming.  I think whats happening is is that I have a PC tuner card and it always stays in HD no matter what.  When your STB's drop in and out of HD must be the same time that I experience the JERKY video.  I also experience the popping audio and it seems to coincide with the JERKY frame motion that I notice.  So...... maybe when they fix  the audio, the video will also be smoothed out.  PS we need a little smilie here with it's fingers crossed.
