The next chapter in the cable pig saga: Inflatable swine.

EchoStar's recent promotion featuring the cable pig has reached new heights with what has been described by local media as a 16-foot-tall porker full of hot air. While the giant floating hog has reminded some (at least in the highly-respected trade journalism community) of something like Pink Floyd's concert-going flying pig, this pot-bellied ham has only one objective: To bring attention to cable's rising rates.

The giant pig has recently been spotted in Sacramento, Orlando and Albany, N.Y.

In addition to the flying swine, reports have surfaced that the pig campaign has targeted cable operations with small pig balloons and pig roasts outside MSO field offices.

This is GREAT news.  Apparently the dish folks are threatened by the resurgence of customers coming back to cable, or they wouldn't be spending marketing money on pig roasts.
For the industry as a whole, that means competition is heating up.
