Try going into the 3510 setup and telling it that you can display 480i and 480p and that should improve your analog channels. Right now you probable have only 1080i (factory default) selected so the box is upconverting your analog channels and that is making them less clear

Thanks but I tried that one already and still no real improvement.  They still look grainy compared to the non HD box and the non boxed TVs

I also noticed the SD picture is worse with the Pioneer HD box, which I just got yesterday.  If you are using component cables, you can use the S-Video output and plug it into a different input on your tv.  For me, this improves the SD quality.  The only drawback is that I have to switch inputs on the TV to view the S-Video source.  You will also need to use seperate audio inputs for this.

Is anybody using DVI on the Pioneer box with a "13" series Mitsubishi?  I can't get the DVI input to display 1080i, everything is 480p.

I called and had TWC come out and swap boxes.  Still bad reception on the analog channels eventho he said the signal was still OK.  We tried using the SVideo cable and even just a composite cable on another input and still not a lot of improvement. I got the best with using a splitter and then having the "raw" cable" come in on it's own input.  I tried using the loop out on my Mits RPTV and that would prevent InDemand from working so for the time being have to do it this way.  Hopefully the new HD-DVR boxes will be better.

All of the analog channels look quite bad on my 55-incher, but they look great on the rest of the TV's in my house. Larger screens seem to magnify the crap in crappy video

Agreed, it is on my 65" that I am noticing (and complaining to them) about. It is just odd that the Pioneer box makes it look worse than the SA box did.

Bigger is not better when it comes to analog to say the least.  It does seem to me that their is something to the Pioneer box having a worse picture than the SA box.

Like I said earlier, the analog improved a bit with the S-video but I really had to do a lot of tweaking of the various video levels to get it to look acceptable for analog.  I found it interesting that I had to change the different video levels so much to get it to what it looked like with the SA box on the same input.  I needed to raise contrast, brightness, sharpness, color temp , etc....

It's just so darn tough going from wonderful HD to cruddy analog especially on big screen TV's.  Heck, the 9" tv I have in my kitchen looks almost HD like sometimes with an analog feed.  Although, nothing beats an HD feed on my 55".
