I got the Time Warner HDTV cable box over the weekend, had some problems at first but it ends up my cable run was split too many times, HD is much more sensitive then the regular signal.

Anyway I was able to wath the super bow and it looks awesome on my X1 projector. I could see the blased of grass and even sometimes make out peoples faces in the crowd, truley incredible.

Anyway I have the Pionneer box hooked up to mt reciver and it only seems to show 2 active speakers. What programing is in surround? I could have sworn the superbowl was in surround as I heared different noised from the rear speakers as apposed to the main

The Super Bowl was produced in 5.1 digital, however the local CBS affiliate did not have their 5.1 equipment installed by the time of the broadcast.  Thus locally it was transmitted in Stereo over the air.  However Warner at this time receives their signal from WDJT over the air so you got exactly what 58 put out.

Channel 12 runs 5.1 full time and selected items on HBO and SHOW are in 5.1...also HDNET, HDNET-Movies, and Discovery.

Look for 58 to have 5.1 in the near future.

Thanks for the explanation on why the superbowl was not in 5.1.  I think I missed something tho as isn't CH12 the local CBS?? or am I totally lost?

Channel 12 is ABC, Channel 5 is CBS. Channel 4 is NBC on TWC.

Well to borrow a phrase from my hero,  DOH!!!  I have not lived down in Milwaukee long so still learing the channels.  Intersting as out in LA  NBC was CH4 too.

Just be glad WITI-DT isn't still CBS like they twice used to.  Otherwise only those who live within a few blocks of the WITI-TV Brown Deer Studios would be able to see the game in HDTV. The rest of us would be stuck watching the game in analog.

Course I don't know if WITI actually does High Definition.  I have yet to receive their signal.
