I just bought a panasonic DVD Player with Faroudja processing (the DVD-F85) and I am having the darndest time trying to figure out how to enable Progressive scan.  I did enable Progressive output on the video menu, but I can't seem to find out where the Picture menu is (where I can select 480p/i), or other advanced menus.  Now, I'm not an idiot, but I may play one on TV, but I've been trying an hour and I can't figure it out!   I read the manual, no luck.  I called Panasonic, but they are closed due to bad weather, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks a bunch.

Looked for an owners manual on line but couldn't find one to help you out.  I would think once you activate Progressive scan that it would automatically engage the Faroudha processing.  Other than that I guess you'll just have to play with it or wait to talk with Panasonic.  Good luck.

Thanks Gregg.  I was an idiot.  On a page in the middle of the manual, in teeny tiny print, it told me to hit the display button to access the menu that I need to enable progressive scan.  Thanks for looking.

Hate to say this, but I don't think your Panny has the Faroudja chip.  Not on a player that's under $150.

Actually if you do some research Panny was adding the chip to all Progressive scan players last year.

I did, but I could find any info on the chip.  My CP-72 was the last disk changer with the chip. And people on AVS forum would be screaming about it, instead of looking for the old XP and RP models.

If they are doing it. It's good news.

Ok, Now I'm confused.  I looked at buy.com Link and it says that the DVD F85S has Faroudja processing.  Is that just a generic version of the chip, or would it have to have the chip to have faroudja processing.  I was so excited to have found a player with the chip for such a low price, so maybe it was too good to be true  .  Anybody have any more info?

Buy.com is wrong. They have been listing the Faroudja chip on the current Panny DVD players that do not contain it. The last group of Panasonic DVD players that had it. Their model number begins with CP, RP, or XP.

Their new HDMI player 480p/720p/1080i ($299)coming out soon might have that chip, but no one is sure
