Saw in the JS today that TWC moved up the date that they will be broadcasting TMJ4 in HD to Nov 15.

I wonder how the picture quality will compare to OTA.

SugarRay, do you have a link for this, or was the news only in the printed paper.

It would be nice to get news actually from TW, but that seems even less likely that seeing the second coming of Christ :/

From Tim Cupurisin column on 11/3/02:

WHA-TV RETURNS
All those angry calls to Time Warner Cable after Madison's public TV outlet, WHA-TV, was knocked off the lineup paid off.

Southeast Wisconsin's cable giant will pick up WHA next month on digital cable. It starts as Channel 559 on Dec. 19, when other channel changes occur.

Time Warner also has moved up the date for Channel 4's high-definition signal. If you're among the few who can receive the next generation of TV, it will be on Channel 504 starting Nov. 15.

"We're anxious to add as many high-definition channels as we are able to," says Bev Greenberg, Time Warner's vice president of community and government relations

I think we should all call Bev Greenberg at TWC about the other channels.

Tim, give it up... it's getting tired...

Actually if it requires both HDTV AND a settop box, then the numbers are smaller. But the whole idea with TW carrying the HD signal is that TW HD box eliminates the need for a STB. Then it's the THOUSANDS with just HDTV's.

Research would actually discover how many there are and whether there are more people with HDTV's than read his column. Until he does, maybe we should just make that assumption and from now on make refernce to his stuff like this:

"If you're one of the few readers who read Tim Cuprisin's experimental column in the Journal then you may know..."

There was a story in the Milw. JS over the last few days about their continuing falling circulation. This time it was blamed on cutting off of outstate home delivery that, of course, wasn't profitable. We are probably fairly close to the point where the hits on this site will pass the subscribers to the MJS. Tim C. could always post his column here to get the exposure...

I am note sure if this is allow (I would hope so as it is widely available on the net), so please delete Tom if not, but I have found the contact details for Bev Greenburg.

Perhaps if we email her directly (avoiding the terrrible customer support at TW) we may get more answers on TW's plans for HDTV in Milwaukee.

Sent a nice email to Bev.  I wonder if she will reply.

By all means... we can complain all we want to each other, but that won't get anyhting accomplished. I guess I would do both an e-amil and a snail mail, just in case one or the other gets screened and filed before they reach her Desk.

Of course we'll want to be on our best behavior when we communicate.

So I take it Tom that you will NOT be writing?

JoeK

As someone who's only hope for depenable HD is cable (due to location), I concur. Polite regular contact with TWC may, one only hopes, help bring about a full array of local HD programing.

Tom, I'm sure veyj meant that in nicest sense.

Man... what a tough crowd! Now I know how Tim feels!

I can be nice anytime I want to! I CAN! Really.

I thought I was pretty well-behaved during today's chat.

But then again I sent an email that I thought was nice to a guy the other day, and he said he wasn't going to reply because I was a jerk.

joek you should be able to pick up our signal in Delafield. Just aim your antenna East toward Capitol Drive and 43.

JoeK

Paul,

I am just west of a ridge that runs 200 to 300 feet above where I live.  An employee of a Brookfield wholesale antenna dealer lives just south of me and 50 to 100 feet higher.   He has not had any luck getting consistant signals with a small tower.  Based on this I have just not been willing to spend the time and money to see if I can obtain clear reception.
