I have been informed that for SuperBowl Weekend WDJT will be dropping WYTU from their multicasting and reducing the bandwidth for WMLW's multicast.  This will provide a lot more bandwidth for the SuperBowl.  The station is confident that this will provide ample bandwidth for the HD transmission of the SuperBowl....

Here's hoping they are correct.

Glad to see they realize that the SuperBowl is a "super" TV event and that there are more and more of us out here wanting to see the program without a problem.

Thanks WDJT.

Thank you CBS58... I know you are probably reading this Jim Hall and tell whomever it is that made this decision, thank you...

The game is sure to be gorgeous OTA when everyone stops over... now hopefully CBS is taking its cue from ABC last year and will have more than a handful of actual HD ads also. Here's to hoping for the major movie trailers to be in HD!!

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but do these multicasting issues affect the signal that I get from Time Warner? I know that the format of the signal they broadcast is different than what goes out over the air, but I don't know how TWC gets their signal - do they have to receive it over the air & then re-send it, or do they have a special network feed from channel 58?

Thanks,

According to my understanding TWC receives WDJT-DT off the air so the picture they receive is the same you would get off the air.

Somehow, in the pocket of wishes - 58 could have the resources to up the power on their transmitter for the SuperBowl.
If previous posts are accurate and economically low power is required then I would think a temporary boost would exist by such a big audience.
Me - I will be spending money today trying to pull an OTA HD signal from Madison (25 miles from Milwaukee).

Are you ready to "Pony Up" the hundreds of thousands of dollars for the amplifier upgrade?

I'll do anything you suggest but presently I have a Archer amp and a Channel Master alternate working a rooftop antenna.  My house is low near a river so my conditions are not ideal.

Madison CBS signal is poor, also.

Do you have any way of measuring signal strength? I'm out on the border of Germantown and Hubertus with a woods between my house and the signal, and my indoor antenna is giving me an 89...  Your outdoor should easily get you a decent signal.

When I was first trying to get a signal, I assumed I needed an amp.. and I got nothing. Soemone told me to get rid of the amp, and that did the trick.

P.S. Be sure to read Jim Hall's posts in the other CBS58 thread in HD Technical...

My Samsung HD receiver SIR-TS160 has a digital signal meter but it is ONLY available when receiving a renderable HD signal.  Next to useless design in my eyes.
I understand other receivers can use their meter on any channel regardless of signal strength.  This receiver also will not allow selecting channel 1-1 (or at least without a renderable signal it cannot be selected).

I removed all amps in-line of antenna and signal is much worse on all channels.

Over the last year I have had 3 differenet rooftop antennas.  The present one works much better than the previous.  This one, before I discovered your forum, is the high end unit from, of all places, Menards.
I appear to be not  far from Kevin Arnolds place and concur the 58 signal around Hartland sufferer.  For what reason?

BTW I also have a high hill (moraine) between station antenna and mine, east by one mile.
