My antenna just went up, a winegard installed by Larry Neuens from Kemmer TV.

Just awesome... I now get 100 on every channel except for 6, 24, and 58. 6 I can't get.... oh well, I can always bust out the DBT if anything comes up that I really need... 24 I am getting 79.. He explained to me that analog 24 is flooding digital 25... he also has said that their engineers have said that they are working on fixing it.. Sinclair, hopefully it will happen soon...........

58 I am not getting 100, but I am getting 93 frequently peaking to 100, so you won't hear me complain.. :D

otherwise every other digital channel in milwaukee I am getting a solid unwavering 100. All set for my HD Tivo to record from without having to worry about getting the signal.

Now if only Fox would get their tower moved so I can get a 100 from them also.

For those wondering about the technical details, it is a Winegard 7080p, no preamp. From the antenna the RG6 runs into the basement. Before it hits the multi-switch he had to pad it down by 23dB and run it through an FM trap. From there it goes into a Terk BMS-58 5x8 powered multiswitch. I then have it diplexed right before the box. I tried running the combined cable directly into the box but I end up losing a solid 14 signal points on 24 and 58. Can't figure that one out.

Very very good times.. and thanks to the people earlier on the board who recommended him (actually quite some time ago.. thank god for the search feature...)

I also have the winegard antenna. It works perfect here in Green Bay. I get a solid 100 on all the digital locals. I would recommend it to everyone.

larry corrected me.. it was in fact a Channel Master he installed. I had been originally recommended the Winegard but after talking we went with the Channel Master one instead.. Either way, it is the 100 signal strength across almost all channels that's the most important. So yeah, it is sounding like both are outstanding brands (just as I have been hearing for a few years now).

And the beauty of this is that you will not have to pay Time Warner one cent to get all the programming the major networks have to offer from now on.  Only Fox 6 remains a problem. I suspect that will work itself out this summer. The real fun comes when the atmospheric conditions are right and you can spin the antenna to get Green Bay, Michigan, Chicago, Rockford, or even Madison Stations due t0 atmospheric conditions.  Having an antenna put on the roof is a lost art, highly underutilized and very cost effective. Enjoy the show.

Borghe,

Which model Channelmaster did you go with?

borghe

it should be the Crossfire 3677, unless larry corrects me again.. :P But with looking at what I had looked up when we first talked about it I seem to remember it being the 3677.

How much was the total setup?  Cost of antenna and installation?  Just curious.

From start to finish it was $278. I don't know how the individual costs break down.
