This article from today's Business Journal:

Time Warner offers Bucks games in high-definition

Time Warner Cable in Milwaukee and Green Bay will broadcast 20 of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks and the NHL's Minnesota Wild games in high-definition through a partnership the cable company made with Fox Sports Net North.

Broadcasts will begin Friday with the Bucks home game against the Miami Heat. Former Marquette Golden Eagles guard Dwyane Wade now plays for the Heat.

Telecasts will include 10 Bucks basketball games and 10 Wild hockey games.

The high-definition broadcasts are available on digital channel 540 in Milwaukee. The telecasts are made possible through an alliance with the Fox-owned regional sports networks.

I'm watching it right now - is it just my TV, or is there some funky artifacting going on when the camera is moving slowly? Or maybe it's the 3510HD box?

It kind of looks like 720p (if I disable 720p in the 3510HD setup menu, the TV changes resolution, so I assume it's going to 1080i)

The picture quality is very good, though.

My screen shows that it is being broadcast in 720p.

As far as the slow motion, if your talking about during replays, I saw someware that they cannot show replays in HD. Something to do with production equipment. Maybe somebody else will know better.

I should have been more clear; it wasn't during instant replays, it was during normal play, and was most noticeable when the camera wasn't panning, and was following the action slowly. Maybe "artifacting" was the wrong term. It was a sort of aliasing that you noticed on diagonal lines or details. I also noticed that it didn't appear in all of the live shots, so maybe it was only for certain cameras. I was just surprised to see this, because I haven't noticed that type of effect when watching a CBS or ABC HD football game.

What really matters is the Bucks are a awesome team this year and they are playing very well and have a 5 game winning streak.
The only way I will see a Bucks game in HDTV would be if ABC carries a game as part of their NBA package and WISN-TV will sure to air it in HDTV.  Maybe in time WCGV will, providing they go HD sometime.

Wasn't home for the game.  Was it available to everyone, including basic cable subscribers like me who get the locals in HD or is it just for those with a digital tier?

If you get Hd locals you get Fox Sports Net Hd which carries the Bucks

I haven't seen anything on 540 - I wasn't able to try Friday night when the Bucks were on.  Is anything showing?  Are they going to carry Minnesota Wild hockey when it's available?  It's supposed to be on Monday night.

TWC 540 is the new Fox Sports Net HD. The only program they have shown to date was the Bucks game last Friday night. They will have more programing in the future including more Bucks games.

Right now it is just showing a black screen.

I'm curious as to why every Fox SportsNet Bucks home game is not being broadcast in HD?  I would think that the equipment used to telecast an HD program would be present in the Bradley Center for the remainder of the season.  I guess I don't understand what all is involved in an HD telecast.  Why would they only have 10 home games shown in HD when, presumably, they could broadcast all of the home games in HD?

There are a couple factors involved.  I don't think the Bradley Center has been upgraded with Fiber-optics to make the facility HD friendly.  If so they have to run all their own fiber to the production trailer which is a lot of labor.  Also it depends on the number of HD production setups they have, they probably only have about 25% of their production crews set up for HD.

Any place where we could get a schedule of planned HD broadcasts?  The TWC guide just shows "FOX Sports Net" listed all day.

How can we find out which Bucks games are HD?

The Law

Are we in the Fox Sports "North" programming area.  There's not much to watch, is there.

Maybe they should show reruns, at least...

Joel S

We are the "north" area.

It would be nice if they would at least have a screen with the schedule of upcoming games on it.  Kind of like if you order ESPN gameplan/fullcourt.  The channel guide is not even up to date or very accurate.

I believe the next game is this Friday (Bucks vs. Toronto).  I must say the Jan 9th game (Mil vs. Miami) looked excellent.  I would compare the pq to a mnf production clarity.  They did have one really bad camera from the corner that was terrible but rarely used.
