Hello,
I am having problems with my inhd channels, all other hd channels work fine. I have rebooted the box and had twc reboot from there end, but still unwatchable video dropouts. any suggestions.

thanx wozz

Sorry to sidetrack you, but is Wozz short for Wozniak?

wozz

Paul S,

Yes Wozz is short for Wozniak, also I talked to twc this morning and they tried a few things from there end, but no luck. they are sending someone out in the morning. I do not understand how all other hd channels work but not the inhd ones.

Happy Holidays,

Ok, how about a Brad Wozniak that used to live on Beechwood St?

Which channels are 'INHD'?

wozz

Sorry Paul its Mark,

But anyway, the the twc guy stopped this morning and replaced end connectors and splitters in my basement where my cable splits to other rooms and I am now recieving the inhd channels(545 & 546). He also mentioned that we might have to remove the splitter behind my hd monitor that sends one signal direct to t.v. and one signal direct to hd cable box. I was not happy at this point. I like to watch my pic out of pic and analog cable using the direct to t.v. hook up, but the work he did in the basement did the trick. I just found the removing splitter behind monitor an odd fix. Any comments?

Happy Holidays and go Pack

Consumer TV tuners are cheap and notorious for leaks.  That's why many direct-connect TV's have lines on certain channels.  If the tuner leaks, some off-air signal can leak out from the RF input of the set and into the RF input of the set top converter via the splitter.  It just so happens, CHB-58's off-air signal resides in the same frequency as INHD on the cable plant.  It can be a very strong source of interference if you're not careful.
The best medicine is to totally avoid push-on type F connectors.  Use only threaded ones.  If you don't have the right tool to install F connectors, don't.  Contact the cable company.  Use good quality cable.  Best stuff is from the cable company and it's free.  Don't install amps on your own.  It's impossible to tell if you need one or not without a signal level meter.
You do not have "your father's" cable system anymore.  Signals now transmitted by cable reach well into the UHF spectrum.  Therefore, signals (digital) are not tolerant of poor installation techniques on the home wiring front.  IMO, home wiring changes are not a do-it-yourself project anymore.

Happy new year everyone,

Well I thought I had my inhd problem fixed. It is now about 2 weeks since twc guy was out(inhd channels working fine when he left) and where back to the same video drop outs, sometimes no picture at all. I still have no problems with twc hd channels 504 through 541. Any suggestions, I was thinking of a new cable box, or remove one of the t.v.'s in my home that I think might have a poor tuner, or running cable direct to cable box and running a split cable from basement to back of hd monitor for anolog(split screen). Sure would appreciate any input.

Thanx,
Wozz

Home run the coax feed to the digital set top to rule out any other bad connections / leaks on the other runs.  Make sure fittings are more than finger-tight.  Use good fittings and the proper installation tools needed to put them on right (no pliers on the crimp rings!).
