TWC annouced in their TV Guide for the Muskego area as well as the Racine-Kenosha area that they will be carrying WMLW-LP ch. 41 on Basic Cable ch. 7.

Also WYTU-LP ch. 63 will be carried on Basic cable ch. 66. They carry all spanish programming from the Telemundo Network. However they will probably broadcast some Milwaukee Brewer Baseball games this season in spanish.

Pardon me if this is a stupid question - but would this be different content than what is currently carried by TWC on digital channels 741 and 763? (Channel 741 gives a station ID of WMLW-DT; I don't know about 763 because I don't watch it)

Thanks,

You have to understand what they are saying.....not that they are finally carrying the stations(which they have been for a while), just that now it is available in Basic Cable...you don't need Digital Packages.

This is a huge "win" for Jim Hall and Weigel Broadcasting. They have managed to get their low power stations carried on basic cable instead of the digital tier. This means that anyone who subscribes to cable - even the lowest, over the air package-will get these stations. A nice win for WDJT. 41 does carry a nice sports package and is used sometimes to carry alternative CBS programming when 58 is otherwise busy.  I wonder why the change of heart on TWC's part.

It also makes these two stations more valuable at sale time especially if Journal Broadcasting just happens to be interested.

I forgot to mention that January 29th is the target date for the 2 LPs to appear on Basic Cable.

Yes they have been offered as TWCs digital package which I don't use.  I receive all my digital local stations OTA, and get these stations over WDJT-DT. However I do have TWC and receive the basic package and Standard Tier along with Road Runner.

News made the Business Journal today:

-------------------------------------
Time Warner adds channels 41, 63 to standard package

Time Warner Cable in Milwaukee will add two local television stations to its standard cable package beginning Jan. 29 in a move that will bolster broadcasts of local sports.

The cable company will broadcast WMLW-TV (Channel 41) on standard cable channel 7, and add Spanish-language network Telemundo Wisconsin to standard cable channel 66. Telemundo is now seen on channel 63.

"We're always looking to provide more choices and a variety of programming to viewers," said Time Warner spokeswoman Bev Greenberg.

With its channel to be located amid the major broadcast networks, the low-power WMLW is sure to garner a greater audience. The station broadcasts local sports events, including Marquette and Conference USA basketball, University of Wisconsin and Big Ten basketball, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee basketball. The station, now shown on Time Warner's digital channel 741, also carries Milwaukee Wave indoor soccer and high school football and basketball games.

Telemundo broadcasts a variety of Spanish-language programming, including Milwaukee Brewers games, along with other non-sports programs. The station will also carry NBA games and the Summer Olympics in 2004.

Time Warner's Milwaukee system has 420,000 customers in 131 communities in southeastern Wisconsin.

Some stupid shopping channel that nobody watches.  Bout time Time-Warner starts making use of channels and removing the stations nobody watches.

The rub is that I believe TW gets a percentage of every sale on these shopping networks. It can be quite profitable for them. That's why they have so many of them. WMLW won't generate that much revenue.  Shop NBC must have really been a dog.

ShopNBC is moving, not going away.
Customers in the immediate metro Milwaukee area will receive 41 on 7, while those outside the region still will receive it via the digital tier.  (WLS will be staying on 7 in the Kenosha area, for example.)

Well they DO listed on the TV Guide on ch. 2 here in Muskego. Nothing mentioned about it in the TW Cable bill I just received. This morning Tim Cuprisin had some say into it. Sounds like all of TWC in Southeastern WI.  Cuprisin also said the NBC Shopping channel moves to ch. 78.  Don't know or recall if he said anything about whats on ch. 66, whether thats moving someplace else, I don't know.

In Conclusion - I do hope its carried in Muskego, otherwise I'll be pissed! As for the Racine-Kenosha, I got that info from Radio-Info.com from a viewer who lives in Kenosha who also saw it listed on their TV Guide. Then I checked my Ch. 2 and saw the samething.

I look today and there is no information concerning that listed in their TV Guide.

In a nutshell, if you can see ShopNBC on 7 today, you will see 41 there in late January.  If you don't see ShopNBC on 7, you will still get 41... on the digital tier.
Off-air 63 will be on analog 66 and digital 992 everywhere.

Racine/Kenosha have a seperate TV Guide channel... it is possible our Guide vender screwed up and loaded the message on that unit in error...  I'll have someone verify this and if needed, get them to fix their mistake.

I don't subscribe to their digital tier.  I guess I'll have to settle for OTA, since that is how I receive all local Digital channels.
