Press Release:

ABC SPORTS TO BROADCAST NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME,
THE NOKIA SUGAR BOWL, FEATURING NO.-1 OKLAHOMA
AGAINST NO.-2 LSU, IN HIGH DEFINITION TELEVISION

ABC's Primetime Coverage Kicks off Sunday, January 4, at 8:00 p.m., ET

ABC Sports, the network of the Bowl Championship Series, will broadcast its coverage of the National Championship Game, the Nokia Sugar Bowl on January 4, 2004, in High Definition Television (HDTV). The announcement was made jointly by George Bodenheimer, president, ABC Sports and president of ESPN Inc., and Preston Davis, president, ABC Broadcast Operations and Engineering.

ABC's HDTV telecast will be broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), the network's selected format, with 5.1-channel surround sound.

ABC Sports will ring in the New Year with five post-season games that will begin on January 1 and culminate on January 4 with the Nokia Sugar Bowl, which pits No. 1-ranked Oklahoma against No. 2-ranked LSU for the national title in primetime at 8:00 p.m., ET. Brent Musburger, one of the most versatile and talented broadcasters in the industry, will be joined by ace analyst and Emmy nominee Gary Danielson. Jack Arute and Pro Football Hall of Famer Lynn Swann will share sideline duties.

For the 2003-2004 television season, ABC will broadcast more than 800 hours of HDTV programming, including all of ABC's comedies, dramas, and theatrical movies, as well as the entire 2003-2004 season of "Monday Night Football." The expanded sports and primetime high-definition schedule broadcasts will bring the network's total HDTV primetime broadcasts to 17 hours per week.

In addition to series, movies and "Monday Night Football," last year ABC broadcast a number of key sporting events in HDTV, including the Super Bowl XXXVII, the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Finals.
