This may be a minor peeve, but I am curious if anyone has a clue when regular digital broadcasts will change the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9?  It's great to watch a football game, special event  or Leno in 16:9, but I sure wish I could watch simple things like local news at 5pm in 16:9. I'm using a Hughes E86 and watch everything converted to 1080i, so I can't use the fill function or stretch function. I find that digital OTA is so much better than analog that I just wish I could get more programming in the 16:9 ratio. Anyone have any idea's?

Not until HD and digital sets make the mainstay of receivers out there will the local stations invest in HD production facilities.  The only exception is PBS where MPT locally is producing all of their programming (except for the telethon).
