I just had a friend call me up for a different reason, but he mentioned that he saw the "first full time DTV" commercial on channel 12 analog.  I asked him about it and he said it got him excited and interested.  On the other hand, he said he could wait for the new technology purchase since "there is only one station in Milwaukee on the air".

I told him that NBC was on the air for basically prime time.  That CBS was on most if not all of the time.  And PBS was on as well.  He didn't sound like he believed me.  I guess if the other networks want to get more viewers of DTV, they could run some ads like channel 12 did, to inform the public of their status.

I just thought it was interesting that the commercial worked.  At least in some ways.  I did tell my friend that A Bug's Life was great in HDTV.  Maybe some day he will make the switch.  It will probably happen quicker if there is more advertising and education on the analog stations about DTV availability in the Milwaukee area.

The Journal (WTMJ) "was" a leader in broadcasting at one point in their history. For instance, WTMJ was first in Milwaukee in color.  For me, WISN is a leader.  High power and 24 hours a day digital and they are proud enough to advertise it.  Maybe viewers will have a reason to buy into this best kept secret finally.  Boy, the power of competition.  I love it.

You bring up a valid point. I have found it most curious that 4 and 58 do little if any promotion of their digital station. 58 features a blurb on their website that is from March 11 and unchanged. To find anything about the digital channel 4 you have to dig deep on their website. Some have said this is because Neilsen cannot measure DTV viewers so that they would lose that rating but that is minor. Channel 12 has come out roaring and will rapidly lap the existing stations in brand identity. Whya anyone would spend millions on a new station and then keep it a secret is beyond me.
