Let's create a list, as suggested by forum member Dan the Man, where HDTV is viewable in a public venue, be it bar, restaurant, bowling alley, etc.

No need to post the obvious; Flanner's, Colders ...

Matt Heebner

Soon TWC will be coming out to hook up the new HD box (in the next week) so this is my suggestion:

Steve's On Bluemound
5841 West Bluemound Road
Milwaukee, WI  53213

Sports bar with at least 15 TV's including a new 65" Hitachi, a 52"RCA, and a 51" Toshiba, pool tables, dart boards, numerous sports teams (softball, dart leagues, pool leagues etc.), and home to MacBeebs Grill and the best damn burger anywhere! Also has Friday Fish Fry.

We should all meet up at Steve's during a monday night game or a CBS game on a Sunday!  It would be cool to meet some of the members from this site there.

Will they show soccer games in HD.  I've never seen one in Hi-Def, that is (heard MLS games are sometimes on ESPN-HD)

This sport begs for HiDef IMHO.

Not sure about ESPN-HD, but HD-Net broadcasts soccer on a regular basis.

FYI:

Steves On Bluemound is now up and  running with  HD ! This  Monday night will be the official HD Event at Steves with the Packer game.

Go PACK!

Just an update.....
Soon every television from the other big screens to the smaller sets in Steves on Bluemound will be going HD. I am not sure of the exact timeframe, but have been told it will happen before football season. Any place in the bar will be good for  watching HD.

As new info comes in, I will be letting you guys know!

BTW, Matt ...

Didja catch the free publicity on WISN 12 for Steve's ??

They had the lovely Stephanie Sutton shooting pool with Bill Hall from the Brewers over the weekend.

Didn't see any HD monitors around, tho ... ;)

Matt Heebner

I was there and got to meet Bill Hall. He is a pretty good pool player, and ended up pplaying against some of the regulars for about 2 to 3 hours after the "filming".
Super nice guy.....although a Budwieser drinker.... , and is better at pool than he was leading on to be....

So, Matt, didja get to meet Stephanie, too ?? ;)

/letch mode off :D

borghe

heh.. I never saw this post before.. I live about 10 blocks from steves...  should head over there sometime..

Matt Heebner

Yea, I got to meet her, but everyone was trying to meet her. I actually didnt get to meet Bill till after the event was over, and he hung around for awhile. Steph didnt hang around very long after.

borghe...SOB's is a pretty cool place. Great sports bar, kinda like the one you would go to with a bunch of buddies...BUT...the weekends gets pretty busy, the bar gets pretty smokey due to low ceilings, and when you have a large mix of rowdy college aged sports fans on Friday and Sturday nights, it can get loud and obnoxious.

I will say though that the food is excellent (My brother owns the kitchen) with excellent fish fry Fridays, and if you like buffalo wings, my brother sells what I consider to be the best in Milwaukee. He marinades and dips in a VERY heavily garded secret sauce that he has been offered a lot of money for the recipe. EVEN I haven't seen the recipe...;) .

SOB's is also (with the addition of a bunch of HDTV's) an excellent place to watch every sports on, and if you are a NASCAR fan...I know they have some great drink specials !

Matt

Matt Heebner

I just want to clarify....the majority of patrons at Steves IS NOT rowdy college-aged kids. I just meant that they sometime attract that crowd on the week-ends....but of course what sports bar doesn't ?

I also want to mention that they sponsor about a billion sports teams and leagues.....Pool, darts, softball, hardball, football, volleyball, kickball, everything. So if anyone is looking for a sponsor for a particular sports team....talk to Catherine at the bar. Tell her Matt sent ya (She's my sister-in-law) and she will set you up !!

Just an update...all the smaller TV's are now 30" Samsung HDTV's, and they all have their own TWC HD boxes, so most sporting events (football...;) ) will be in HD starting tonight with Monday Night Football's Hall of Fame Game.

They still have their smaller analog RPTV's though. I had thought those were supposed to be upgraded as well, but the big 65" Hitachi is still going strong in the front of the bar.
