Please take note - all TWC subscribers - your cable bills are going up! :(

A new pricing scheme is currently on their website. The first thing I noticed is that the rental boxes (HD ones included) are going from $6.95 to $7.95 a month. SD DVR service pricing stays the same, but the pricing for packages has changed to reflect increases, however subtle. :D

Just thought our TWC forum members might want to take a look and do some recalculating for next year.

Thanks!:)

I guess those neat Dish adds showing the cable companies are PIGS are correct......

This re-opens that old sore point on cable vs. over the air.  I wonder how TW justifies bumping some prices 13% when inflation is non-existant right now. Cable is still the cheapest initial option for getting HDTV but they just managed to make the purchase of a STB look pretty good.  Keep it up TW, you'll make OTA broadcasting successful yet.

just curious where you see it on their site. I see the new DIGIPiC packages.. is that it? I don't see info on the converter increasing though...

Earlier in the day and last night-the main screen HAD the details listed - including the $7.95 monthly rental fee for "equipment" .
Now they just made the pricing part a box to click on for it :)

Believe me, they DID have this price listed...some web designer or whomever, took it off when this main page got redone today.

Incidentally, they COULD have checked the spellings on some of the web page while they were at it...some words are still in error and it looks rather unprofessional.

With the the new tier, my monthly service goes up about 4 bucks a month and I'm getting a bunch of extra channels including Biog, Disney and another Sports Channel.  For me to get these one the current scheme would've cost, i think, an extra $15 or so.

I'll check bills and advise

So what channels do you get which each tier? I went to the bill pay center today to pickup a flyer but it doesn't list what channels you get. Is this listed somewhere?

They mailed the new packages (price increase) with the monthly statement.

It's no big surprise. They been doing this at the end of every year. I hope no one  thought Discovery HD was free.

When I started this thread about pricing it was to inform and not complain.:)

I checked the pricing for my requirements and saw little go up more than perhaps, the cost of one cheap lunch-per month.
Once TWC gets those HD PVRs, I will save almost $200  a year on rental boxes and that will more than make up the difference.

As for comparison, when I do purchase a premium movie package from TWC, I get more channels than Directv gives me from its "offerings", to be fair.  5 Cinemax TWC vs. 3 for DTV. Showtime and HBO offer more channels and TWC gives them to me. DTV just gives you what it wants to:
When I went to TWC-only  6 months ago, I didn't realize there were that many more channels of premium fare-not all of it repeats-and in DD5.1-than I previously got with DTV.;)
My point is you may get more bang for the buck if IMO, you look at TWC pricing and offerings in this way.
The fact TWC has a HD package does not surprise me. $6.95 is cheaper than $10.99 - even without ESPN-HD.

My read says that Discovery HD will remain free.  The HD package is for the HD in Demand channels.

And for me next year I get a choice a few less channels for $5 less or a few more channels for $5 more.

So I am not particularly upset.  As always the packages are never quite right for what you want.

Do they include channels 3-99 as "crystal clear?"  As a current TWC subscriber I will have to say that their website could be a little more informative.

You'd think that the colorful DIGIPiC pictures would be links to the channel lineups.  It's great that DIGIPiC has 190 channels, but would it be too much trouble to tell us which ones?  Also, what is the difference between DIGIPiC and regular digital cable?  For that matter what is DIGIPiC anyway?  Is it different or just another cool marketing term to try and confuse subscribers even more?
