INHD Audio Dropouts

I ordered INHD on TWC and am giving it a whirl.  Every 10 - 20 seconds I get audio dropouts.  On some occasions I will also get simultaneous pixelation or the picture will "skip" or "jerk" a single time with the dropout.  The dropout will last a fraction of a second and can be compared with an audio CD doing a single skip.

It should be noted, that I do receive the audio dropout scenario on other channels every now and then.  It will happen every 10-20 seconds or so.  The workaround I use is to flick to one channel and back again (I usually hit the "last" button twice) and this will remedy the problem.  On the 2 INHD channels, this workaround will not work.

The quality of the sound and picture otherwise superb.  The content appears to be a decent mix given the amount of repeatable offerings.  This won't concern me for now, since it's so new and the offerings appear to be quite good.

I'll be contacting tech support and will see if we can't fix things.  I'll let you know how it all goes.

Incidentally, if anyone else experiences this, let me know.  I'm using the 65" mits.  Audio is an RCA Proffesional Series system (nothing fancy)

This sounds like an issue with the HD receiver.  I know the Scientific Atlanta receivers had this problem because I had a similar problems.  Upon getting the new Pioneer HD receiver, the problem was solved.

Just a guess.

Are 'the other channels' all HD or are there problems on SD channels as well?
Do you have any problems with channel 510?

HD and SD Channels.  I can't recall that I've noticed it or not on 510 since I rarely watch that channel.  I've seen it on 541, 512, 506, 114 for sure since those are the channels I primarily watch.

This started with the Pioneer.   I've had the unit swapped out and that had the audio dropout issue, too (though I haven't swapped it out since I ordered INHD last night - as an aside...I'm impressed with the speed at which the subscription was added...instantly!  no waiting 24 hours, etc. in the way you do when ording phone service request changes)

It should be noted that the dropouts (INHD notwithstanding) either happen or don't...i.e. If it is not happening, it does not start occuring until I switch to another channel.  If it is occuring, it will not stop unless I switch to another channel.  It will always go away when I change channels and it is something that starts happening every time I change channels.

I have not noted if it happens specifically when I switch between (for example) a digital and an anolog...or and HD and SD Digital...or HD and SD Analog...etc.

W/respects to INHD it always happening no matter what I do.  I tried pouring a can of coke over the unit a few weeks ago to cool the unit down (it felt warm)...could that have anything to do with it?

The Law-
Send me a PM, I might be able to look at this sooner than a tech can show up.  Include the MAC address # of your set top.  It should be on the back of the set top and 12 digits/characters long.

Usually I have good luck with TWC making quick changes.  However, I just tried ordering InHD and they couldn't figure out how to do it because I'm not part of some digital package (which makes little sense to me sice I have a zillion stations).  They are going to have to call me back "within a couple of days."

I might just try calling at night, I seem to have better luck with the CSR's in the evening for whatever reason.  Has anyone else tried to order InHD and had problems??  At first the CSR told me those channels wouldn't be available until December 3rd which I knew was wrong

:o Within a couple of days?  Unbelievable... it should be more like 5 minutes.  I'd try again tonight and ask for a customer service supervisor.

That was my thoughts as well!  I think I'll try again tonight and I bet I'll have better luck.

It sure seems like other people are not having problems getting these channels up and going.

With a little help with one of the Forum members (Thanks, again - you know who you are), I was able to pinpoint the issue to a splitter that was being used to feed PIP (1 input to TV for analog, the other to the box for digital).

Removing the splitter did the trick.  The picture and sound quality are what a descriminating view should expect.

Kudos to TWC for providing this content on schedule.  And Kudos to INHD for the production.

I'm now up and running with InHD.  My delay was really because the CSR wanted to save me a couple of bucks so I can't complain about that.

I've only watched a couple of minutes and the PQ is great so far.
