haven't seen this mentioned anywhere..

Tonight UPN starts its official foray into HD with the airings of Enterprise and Jake 2.0, both in 1080i. It is unclear what other shows if any will be in HD.

As far as stations, there are apparently a ahndful of affiliates around the coutry as well as all owned and operated stations that will be carrying these broadcasts..

so the question is, will WCGV be one of them? Being that WB is on its second season in HD and WVTV has yet to show a single minute of HD content I would have to guess no. Does anyone have any contacts or contact information for WCGV24 that they would be willing to find out for sure with?

Mr. DTV from Sinclair Corporate has been known to post here ... we could e-mail him ! ;)

Just sent this, to Mr. DTV, Mark Aiken:
QuoteHi Mark,

Todd from milwaukeehdtv.org here.

Any chance you could pop over to our forum and address UPN sending out 'Enterprise' and 'Jake 2.0' in HD, starting tonight ??

We'd like to know the status of WVTV / WCGV and broadcasting in HD.

Thanks much !

actually he responded to a post on avsforum of mine... through insinuation and supposing it seems that Sinclair is looking to buy a large amount of HD equipment.... sometime next year. I can only assume that smaller stations like our two here will be in that large order...

don't get your hopes up. it looks like we may have to wait until the 2004-2005 season for HD from UPN and WB.

just checked the titan guide and it shows both enterprise and jake 2.0 in hd on upn chicago 50-1. wooooooo!!!!!!!! oh man i hope so i love enterprise. i set it up to record, i guess the wife will have to watch ed on tivo. so now both wb and upn out of chicago are broadcasting hd, are these also sinclair stations, i would guess no.

WB is broadcasted on WGN-TV out of Chicago which is owned and operated by the Tribune Company.  As for UPN which is from WPWR-TV out of Chicago I have no idea who owns and operates that.

WGN is a first class broadcaster who actually gives a damn about their viewer.  Hence the latest in equipment and cutting edge technology.  Even WPWR in Chicago is miles ahead of their Milwaukee counterparts owned by Sinclair broadcasting.  Sinclair views WVTV and WCGV as profit centers, existing only to generate big profits for the Baltimore coporation and to do the absolute MINIMUM necessary to keep everything status quo.  New equipment and good viewer relations are on the bottom of their list, behind increased commercial inventory and cheap, low quality programming.  We've never, ever heard a peep out of the general manager of WVTV/WCGV, that is if there is one.  The coroporate representative is "Mister DTV" which is sort of an inside joke as he talks the talk and never walks the walk.  If you search for his postings here or on AVS forum you will soon see he is coy, clever, and infuriatingly obscure.  Never a definet plan, idea, or deadline.  Just incredible amounts of BS trying to deflect viewers from the obvious - Sinclair has NO desire to enter the digital age except with a gun at their head. As far as I'm concerned they could change their corporate name to the Parasitic Broadcasting Group.
