What is everyone paying for Time Warner HD? I was quoted.

$36 for 2-99
$11.95 for HBO
$8 for box
$6.30 for digital
Showtime and Cinemax free?
$Tax

Is this it? They said there are 3 months free, so shouldn't be that bad. Unfortunately I can't get DISH. I'm purchasing for HBOHD and the Sopranos. Would be nice if I didn't have to get 2-99 too.

did I see the word "free" and Time Warner in the same context?

Showtime is extra.

Cinemax is extra.

Each box is extra.

I dumped TWC because it just was too expensive plus they wanted to double the price just to get the main cable fare like CNN and the Weather Channel which came with basic service before they -ahem- "improved" their service.  Plus the quality of the service was not good either, IMHO.

Hence I went with satellite services with Directv.  Only there you have to pray you get someone who knows their product when you call them.  At least when that part is done the service is acceptable.  Now waiting for HD STB.  I am crossing my fingers that the west coast strike wont delay that now too.

my.02 worth on the subject.  I know... more than you wanted to know.  (grin)

While I'm no TWC fan either, I did note that you weren't interested or able to go with the dish option. (Personally, I don't believe that sat is any better than cable, except for the fact that the boxes are able to do both sat and OTA reception.  Otherwise, I'd rate customer service of both as pretty lousy.)

Anyway, on to the question.  Since I also have TWC at the moment, your prices are pretty close.

$35 for basic service & standard tier.
My bill shows $12.95 for HBO (including HBO HD) but I've also got other subscriptions in a package, so it lists the credit seperately.
$5.60 for the HDTV converter
$.35 for the remote
$6.30 for the digital value pack (I assume digital cable tier.)
$8.39 of taxes and fees.

Showtime and Cinemax aren't free (Unless there's a promotion that I'm not aware of.)

Sopranos looks pretty good in HD.  Too bad you missed Band of Brothers in HD!  Be forwarned that the non-HD channels aren't going to look that good and that the installer will probably be clueless about HD.  I'd probably also look at some AR or better component cables over the ones provided with the HD cable box.

Just my viewpoint.

I believe the Showtime/Cinemax thing is a deal of sorts to go along with 3 months free. I know all about the poor quality digital 2-999. Last Summer(2001) I joined for the MLB Extra Innings package. When they couldn't get me an HD box within 2 months, I cancelled and bought the HiPix instead. I already spent the money on "Better Cables" two years ago and will be reusing them. Unfortunately, I'm facing the wrong way for Satellite.
