Anyone else catch either of the 2 games FOX spit out on DirectTV this weekend in "Hi-Res"? Definitely better than SD, but disappointing nonetheless.

I managed to flip over to the San Fran/ St. Louis game during commercials. It was on channel 71 or something like that.

I was going to get Sunday Ticket, until I found out that they block all games on that service if they are being shown in your market by your local affiliate. Even an Enhanced Definition game will be blocked if your local affiliate is showing that game OTA, digital or analog. So when the Packers start showing up in ED Widescreen in October, just about everyone in the country will be able to see those games either over the air, or on Sunday Ticket... except for those of us not within 2 blocks of Fox 6 studios...

...or who have TWC.

Probably covered here before, but how much is it for an HD box from TWC to get ONLY the local HD channels?

about $20 per month. The ~$12 per month for the package and another $7 per month for the box and remote. Also taxes..

And what if I already have basic cable? Is it just the extra $7 for the box?

I believe you are correct - basic plus 6 or 7 bones for the box.

I live in Waukesha and have never been blacked out on NFL sunday ticket in three years.  Ie: I can watch the packers on Fox 6 as well as the Sunday Ticket channels 700-715.  Home or Away it doesn't matter, and i watch it every sunday from 11:30 - 6:30 then its over to ESPN for the HD game.

As for the Fox 480p Wide.... It has been an Ok to sometimes unwatchable (shakey pic. being discussed over @ AVS for more info).  It is still better than the 480i games on Directv though.  At least on my Sammy 567 it is.

It is however, nothing compared to the ESPN Sunday, MNF and the 1 CBS game Sunday Ticket game in True HD Every week.  All I can say is Wow, what a great picture  That is why I bought this TV.

I haven't seen any games blacked out on ST this year.. All 6 HD'ish games have been available so far. I don't forsee a blackout occuring. Even with ST being subject to blackout rules, the fact is that at least in our instance, Packer games have always and will always be sold out for many years.

As for the local channel blackout rule, well.. ST must not qualify, because the games were available on my friends ST package... unless there was something weird going on there.

They may just be blacking out the City of the game....anyone here subscribed with a Green Bay area address???

Back on topic ...

The FOX 'enhanced widescreen' game (TB vs. ATL) looks great here.

BTW, I've had NFL-ST since 1996 ... never experienced a blackout.
