Hey folks,

Long time no see. I've missed the place...

I've been away so long; I'm a bit behind on the local HD news. Is there any word on WB18's plans for passing on an HD signal?

Thanks!

Sinclair still owns them... as long as that's the case, don't expect to see any HD on 18 any time soon... not even passed through HD from the network.

Well, that sucks. No HD Smallville in the near future then.  :(

Now, I need to get around to tweaking my atenna so that I can hopefully pick up UPN24-DT. Are they passing a HD signal? Enterprise starts tomorrow, ya know.

Ch. 18 and Ch. 24 are both owned by Sinclair.   Not sure if they plan to broadcast HD in the the NEAR future, but looking at WB-18's website they have 2 programming grids, one is for WVTV-TV and the other for WVTV-DT.  Comparing the 2 grids they are the same.  On the grid for their digital they have in the corner and icon for HD. Therefore if the WB is airing a program in HD and WB-18 lists it on their program grid as "HD" then I would assume they are gonna broadcast the program in HD.

Right now I don't see any programs they have listed for the next 2 weeks using the "HD" symbol.

Having these 2 program grids, one for WVTV-TV ch. 18, the other for WVTV-DT, ch. 61 its assumed that somewheres down the line programming could be different between the 2. Also the fact they have the 2 program grids could mean that soon they intend to go HD when WB is airing in HD.  Its a matter of getting extra equipment to recive and transmit the WB-s program in HD.

  (Should we tell him the awful truth?) ;)

borghe

yeah, we should

the truth is that the WB is sending out HD shows right now. All Smallville, Everwood, and Reba repeats on now are in HD (from last season).

As for two weeks out and nothing showing up... well, Everwood premieres this coming monday so if there is no HD tag by it, sorry.. :(

On their program grids none of the programs have the "HD" icon with it.  So it is assumed at this time they are not broadcasting it in "HD".  Like I said, its perhaps they don't have the equipment YET to deliver the program in "HD".

You are correct. They probably do not have the equipment. That isn't the frustrating part. The frustrating part is that being owned by Sinclair, they are most likely in no hurry to get the equipment. But that's ok. I watch Smallville, Everwood, and the Simpson's on those channels, and with the Simpson's discs coming out all the time, that is even becoming much less. Eventually I will just not watch anything on those channels until they change their attitudes.
