DISCOVERY HD on TWC 541 !!!

Just checking it out now - not really impressed so far with "The Jeff Corwin Experience" playing until 8:00. Its not too bad most of the time, but a couple scenes were sqeezed and grainy looking - does DIscovery show SD when HD is not available?

Since I started this post its looking better, must have been some SD in the production when I tuned in.

I'm just glad to saying goodbye to the PBS demo loop for awhile.

No more Classic Cars of Cuba, Mobile's azalea trail, "Hello Im Andrew Caroll author of War Letters, the goldfish, the painter dude, New Jersey PBSes "Who Are You?", OK Gov and wife-e-poo, and finally - the Ashley Judd 'Ryan Interview' which ends suddenly and disappointingly.

Ahhhh. Releif.

It was great the first time i saw it back in 2000... they even showed the entire short film a few times back then.

Now if iNDEMAND-HD would come out that'd be nice. Not often something I want to see on it, but when there is it'd be great to watch a new movie on my HDTV without buying/renting the DVD

Did you have to pay extra for Discovery HD?  I have the HD box, but 541 is showing that I'm not subscribed to that channel.

Could be that they just need to change something on my account... the first week I had the HD box, I got EVERY channel (Standard + Premium + HD) for my measly $12+7/month.  Wish that would have lasted.

You need more than just basic cable plus the HDTV box to get the new channel. I think you need to bump up the the $40/month package. I wish I could just pay for all of the HD local channels plus HD HBO, Showtime, and Discover. I'd be quite happy to give up the rest of the basic package.

Whenever you get a new box, you get every available channel until the box is reprogrammed based on your account.  I believe it's updated every week or so....(though in actuality, I have no clue )

w/respects to 541 - you will only get this if you already subscribe to a package that has "regular" Discovery channel.

For now, at least, if you already get the "regular" channel, and TWC offers the HD version, you'll get the HD channel at no add'l cost.  FWIW, I think this model is very competative and a fantastic offering from TWC.
