Do they have model with a DirecTV receiver in it?

borghe

No. As far as I know, the only manufacturer to ever have a DirecTV reciever inside the TV was RCA/Proscan. You might still be able to find some of their 38" widescreen sets around that basically had a DTC-100 in them.

Mits and everyone else you are just left with good ol' component (or on newer ones DVI) connections.

Is it true that you can have a regular Directv receiver receive HD through the dish and that a TV with integrated tuner take the signal and convert it from the regular Directv receiver? I don't think so but I was told they can.

Greg Oman

I do own a set with an internal tuner, and I believe that the answer is no as the satelite is a QAM signal and the OTA is 8VSB, so I think it's not possible.

Gregg-- Am I correct on this?

The only manufacturer that I know that includes a Directv Satellite receiver is RCA...such as Kevin and I have.....otherwise they are all STB's.....personally if I ever replace  (my broken RCA) I will do it with an outboard receiver....things change too fast.

no, you cannot. Sets currently can't even handle QAM cable yet let alone satellite signals (I don't know if they use the same QAM method as digital cable)

You must have an HD box to get HD satellite. It is the same as needing an HD box to get HD cable even though you have a built in tuner. Eventually sets will have built in QAM converters.. man would that be great if satellite really did do QAM modulation and we could finally once and for all get rid of DrecTV tuners.. I doubt it though..
