Sets That Need Changing

WTMJ recently got a new set, designed by a company in California - which is hiddeous in places.

The fake bricks are .. OK .. not as bad as WISN's, but the background on their interview set looks terrible! Looks like something from the 80s.

I do like the introduction of the skyline to the set (a real skyline, not a collage of pictures of buildings as we saw last year.)

The weather center is a nice addition as well, but has some minor things that could be changed: the blue peacock, the fake image of the doppler radar.

Final: Next on WTMJ's list - newscast graphics. (We'd hope.)

WITI's set is beautiful. It is as large in person, as it looks on television. It was designed by the FX Group (fxbuilt.com)

Though WITI recently changed their logo, old logos can still be found around the set - but all in all, they did a nice job adjusting to the change (which really came from outta nowhere).

Final: If only they would make use of the 2nd level of their set.

WISN - move back to the newsroom, please.

The new set is .. odd. The "Lite-Brite" News Ticker above their huge video screen to the right of the news desk is oddly places, their quickly thrown together weekend morning set needs work, the fake bricks were a bad idea by the weather center... Broadcast Design International (the designers) have done some excellent sets before (CBS News, New York to name one). WISN's job was not one of them.

Final: Better figure out how to get that giant newsdesk back into the newsroom.

WDJT - They have done a nice job working out of the small space they have. Their newsroom is much smaller in person, than what you see on television. I think that if they added new camera angles, CBS58 would be more pleasant to watch.

Final: The set is good, now adjust the quality of the news a bit.
