Greetings.

I live in the town of brookfield, high on a hill by springdale and watertown roads.

Equipment: Roof mounted radio shack omni-directional round disc antenna with 2 dipoles (DTV rated). Just installed a channel master 7777 preamp.

I have a Hughes Direct TV HD box.

I get all other DTV channels and analog signals except fpr CBD 58 (and fox of course).

I used to get the CBS DTV signal in winter and spring but now the signal is gone. I didn't even have the preamp back then. Any ideas as to why? I though Fox was the only other low power signal.

Thanks!

Have you re-scanned lately? 1.1 is still there. Have also been picking up 5.1 (NBC) and 9.1 (WGN) out of Chicago recently and they're coming in crystal clear, as long as the weather's okay, and I'm out in Waukesha with an antenna in the attic.

I rescanned today. Still get the same channels.

The guide is showing that CBS 58 DTV channels are 58-1 thru 58-5. I even try mannually entering 1-1 and get "channel unavailable".

I am stumpped by this problem. Anyone with any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

What's with this 1-1 and 58-1 glitch?

Both 1-1 and 58-1 show on my receiver. The on-line guide shows programing for 58-1, but no picture and 1-1 has the picture without the on-line guide

My suggestion is to loose the preamp.  When I lived in New Berlin my apartment complex ampilifer caused me problems when WTMJ-DT signed on for prime time.  As soon as they would sign off I would get a signal on 1-1.  I took signal strength reading with a professional RF signal meter and the level didn't change when TMJ was on or not.  My only guess was the amp was causing some distortion of the digital signal when it saw a signal from channel 28.

Some of the new boxes don't get the channel guide info from the local stations but direct Tv.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Direct guilde list them as 1-1 but as 58-1.  You can also try to enter channel 46 and see if that helps find the signal.

I've got the Sony HD DirectTV receiver and they both show up. CBS HD programming is on 1-1. 58-1 shows on the on-screen guide but currently has no signal.

I relocated my antenna higher and now get 1-1, 1-2 and 1-3 (CBS-58, and that spanish station and some other one). Funny thing though, I also get the same channels on 58-1, 58-2 and 58-3 (with picture).

Just to set the facts straight... I live in a 2 story house. My antenna is mounted on a chimney on the first story of the house and it was only about 2 feet above the chimney. I bought a pole rom RS and raised it up to about 8 feet above the chimney. That actually puts it slightly above the second story roof. Now all is good and I get a crapload of signals now.

Also FYI - WTMJ analog, digital and PAX digital was down Wed. at about 1:00 AM. I had rescanned on my direct TV box and then it was gone. I was picking up some other UHF channel 28 on 4-1 from who knows where.

Now all I need is FOX (come on guys - get that thing juiced up)!!!

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

Dan
