First game missed = Giants VS New England 8/7/2003

TWC, we are watching........or should I say...NOT Watching!!

Tom Snyder

So are you saying that ESPNHD was not on the air on TWC last night, or that it was, but it showed the game in SD?

Can anyone else confirm?

Can't speak for TWC, but watched it on DirecTV with no problem.

ESPNHD is not available for TWC customers.  We're just angry about all the good HD we are missing.

The Law

gotcha.

Patience, it'll come.  It is prolly a mixture of marketing, regulations, technical, etc.

syrett4

No, it is not available on TWC.

I am just out of patience.  I just went out over lunch and started checking out what DirectTV offers and what it costs.

Any TWC employees make sure your bosses know that I, as a member of the greater HD public, is fed up, and I am not alone!!

I actually had one of those so called "service" reps tell me that Discovery HD would be on by July 31.  I didn't realize that he was talking about 2004.

At this point, I would rather pay $10 for a nice HD package on DirectTV than put up with TWC lies for another month!!

The start of the NFL season (9/7/2003) is my line in the sand.

So my original point was that since ESPNHD is not offered on TWC, their customers have so far missed 1 NFL broadcast.:bang: :bang:

I completely agree with you syrett4.  I am dumping TWC unless some dramatic changes take place.

ESPN HD
HDNET
DISCOVERY HD

Thats it. I didn't purchase a $3000 Tv to watch SD TV.

Also will be dumping my Road Runner.

That is a monthly bill of 115.00 a month -> $1380.00 a year.

Farewell TWC

Direct TV here I come

Look at all that money TWC will miss times their rental HD boxes collecting dust.
Don't they realize that amount ($1380.00)  times the 3 or more THOUSAND boxes (probably much more) that will go to satellite companies,  as HDTV owners leave TWC in disgust for satellite and OTA.
Let's face it, that is several MILLION dollars a year by alienating HDTV owners that TWC could lose in SE Wisconsin-alone.
I have 2 HD sets and have waited for Discovery HD Theater since May of 2002. I watch it at my friends' houses that have Directv and Dish Network and can hardly wait for my house to be done so I can switch to an antenna and a dish, at this rate.
The only positive thing I can add is MAYBE something is waiting that is even MORE than just Discovery HD very soon and our great TWC folks in the forum just can't tell us yet.
I agree with OUR frustation and cannot believe that TWC has not come up to bat with so much riding on its BEST customers being lost to satellite.

You know, there is ONLY so much LOCAL HD you can watch (outside of a Packer game on channel 512) before you THROW UP!:p

I couldn't agree more; I'm also tired of TWC's lack of responsiveness in the HD market.

I may also drop their service once the regular NFL season starts if we still don't have ESPN HD.  I'm tired of hearing their generic BS evertime I call or e-mail them questions regarding this subject.

To all of you relatively "new" owners of HDTV... Welcome to our nightmare! Wow, such anger...I love it. I am so happy someone else has the energy to be angry about HD content.

As for me, my anger subsisted when I discovered CSI/HD and saw the first NYPD Blue in HD.

To all of the relatively new people here... if my ulcerous experiecnces will help... it will come, it always does. I never felt more confident about that statement when I sat down to my first tast of digital OTA Faux 6.................

We feel your pain................

Nice to have other (new) HDTV owners screaming for a change!

Do not count me in the fray of "newbie" to HDTV.

I bought my first HD set in May of 2000 and all we had was Directv channels 199 and 509. It looked really good and my DVDs looked fantastic, even on a 4:3 set as I didn't know how long HD  would take to really take off. I sold that set earlier this year for a 16:9 one and never regretted it as now I see more screen and less letterboxing with the exception of some 2.35 :1 movies.

When TWC started doing the HD local channels and Directv was hinting that more was on the way (like there is now), I figured that it was even better to get BOTH TV sets HD so the same quality and choice was to be had in different locations of the house and that TWC would play ball with Directv as it had been with the extra HD channel for the NBA and Masters.

IT WAS AN ASSUMPTION.

So far,  NOTHING more and  satellite has more to offer in non-local channels.
I am happy for mcq that he likes his network locals so very much. Good for him. TWC can sing about  HD locals all it wants...

Remember, these non-local channels on Direct  broadcast more hours of HD than locals can so it you add the hours up, you probably have more HD from Directv than TWC on a given week.
Local stations, to my knowledge,  only send the HD stream from the networks to TWC to us. The stations don't have the resources (so they tell us) to invest in local HD broadcasts.

So several million dollars a year is riding on full-time HD channels like HDNET and Discovery HD along with the other HD channels  like ESPN HD. Several million dollars worth of subscriber revenue could be lost to alienated TWC HD box renters that gave up on TWC completely.

Maybe TWC doesn't the bigger picture.:D

God help TWC when Bravo HD+  really takes off (started 7/31) and the other Time Warner channel Cinemax in HD (soon) starts.

What the heck will TWC do then?

 Give up?

Or has it really (already?):bang:

I'm curious to hear a response from Shirow and Kenshin on this subject. Sounds like the TWC subscribers (including me) are getting restless!

syrett4

Last nights Philadelphia vs New Orleans was on ESPN HD if I am not mistaken.  That makes 2 NFL broadcasts missed by TWC customers.

9/7/2003  The line in the sand.......

Dear TWC,

Stop all of the annoying advertising on cable, you are the cable company!!  If anything is possible, WHY NOT MORE HD???????
