Man, I had to drop a note to the group.  I picked up a Sharp HDTV several weeks ago; the price finally dropped below the threshold I had set and my wife was ready to go, too.  The main drive was to upgrade our DirecTV to HD, which was very easy.  We upgraded the satellite rather than go through TWC because satellite has NASA TV.  I'm not kidding, that was the deciding factor -- With the Mars probes on the way, I want my M(ars)TV.

Anyway, when we bought the TV and DirecTV upgrade, the guy at Barthel TV hands us this goofy looking Zenith indoor HDTV antenna, telling us to try it and if it works and we want it, he'll make us a deal on it.  Well, the thing sat in the box until last night, while I was watching the Packers game.  After the first-stringers left, I decided to try hooking the antenna up and see how bad the reception was (I live in Port Washington).

It took about ten minutes to hook it up and get the satellite receiver programmed to know about the channels, and here I am watching PBS in HD!  Wow!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Packers game wasn't in HD, right?  At least, I couldn't seem to get it in HD -- Could be I wasn't up to speed enough yet at that point, but I suspect that their feed was just standard TV.

Anywho, this is just great.  The only channel I was having some breakup on was 12, I may have to tweak the antenna location.

It's great to have found this forum, I didn't know it existed until last night, when I started futzing with the antenna hookup to see exactly how the local channels are accessed.

OK, enough of my blabbing.

Welcome to the forums...and yes the game last night was SD so you're eyes aren't bad.  Glad you got a good deal from Barthel...Mike from there will be here in the morning to fix my Big Screen as I fired the guys that the warranty company sent.

I would say you will have marginal results with the indoor antenna like are having right now due to some of the low power levels the DT stations are running.  PBS runs decent power as does WTMJ and WISN is running about 1/2 power but their antenna is a little further inland than the others with a pattern that doesn't really favor you, so with an indoor antenna you'll probably have problems with them and also with WDJT.

Have fun experiment and enjoy......
