NEC Solutions (America), Inc. today unveiled its next-generation VT Series projectors, which enhance the design of NEC's VT460 to offer classroom, meeting room and multi-purpose users affordable desktop/portable projection.

With a low $299US lamp cost and up to 3000 hours of lamp life, the new VT46 projector offers the lowest total cost of ownership of any projector available today. The 1200 ANSI lumen projector is available at an estimated street price (ESP) of only $995US. The VT465 offers users a bright 1800 ANSI lumen projector with a robust feature set including automatic keystone correction for an instantly square image, variable audio output enabling use and control of external speakers from the remote, and a monitor output.

The VT465 offers the lowest cost per lumen of any projector on the market to date at an estimated street price of only $1,395US. It is an even greater value for educators, who can purchase the projector through the SMARTer Kids Foundation grant program for only $1,095US.

"NEC strives to make the educational and business advantages of high-performance multimedia projection technology affordable to a wider range of users," said Ron Gillies, senior vice president for NEC Solutions, Visual Systems Division. "The introduction of the VT46 and VT465 clearly demonstrates NEC's commitment to realizing this goal."

Both SVGA native resolution products are easy for first-time users to operate, with color-coded inputs and one-touch setup and operation. At only 6.6 lbs., they are highly portable, their superb video quality making them an attractive option for low-cost home entertainment and multi-purpose use in addition to office and training applications. The new projectors also offer tremendous flexibility, supporting computer resolutions from SVGA through UXGA and supporting an array of video sources including HDTV, component video, s-video and composite video.

Complete Service and Support Program
NEC's VT46 projector is backed by a two-year limited parts and labor warranty. The VT465 includes a three-year limited parts and labor warranty along with one year of coverage by the company's industry-leading InstaCare program providing three business day repair and return or next business day replacement. According to Pacific Media Associates' 2002 Large-Screen Displays Reseller Survey, NEC ranked highest among all display manufacturers for product quality/reliability and warranty repair/return programs. In the survey, resellers rated product quality/reliability as the most important single attribute of a large-screen display manufacturer.

Availability
The VT46 and VT465 will be available in August through NEC's network of channel partners.
