I emailed the local TW office the other day about when they are going to carry any of the local HDTV signals and here is the response I got back:

Our programming department tells me that negotiations are still underway. I pressed for an estimate of when negotiations might be finalized, and I was told there is nothing definite. Then I asked them to guess. They said most likely by the end of the year, but that it is only a guess.

You can be sure we will let you know just as soon as we have something solid to tell you.

Welcome.

Is it me or does it seem we have more and more people coming on this site who are waiting for cable? Looks like cable carriage really will be a big deal. Me personally, I'm about to break down and buy a HiPix and a 160GB drive within the next 6 months unless DirecTV announces a OTA/Sat HD recorder during then. Either way it will be good bye to DirecTV locals.

My guess is it will be a while until cable has a Tivo-like unit available, especially a dual tuner one.

Just an FYI, TWC will be testing the Scientific Atlanta 8000 series Digital Cable which has PVR built in.

It does offer a PIP capability...
