twc hdtv set top box and dvi Input

please explain ...Both my new tvs come with DVI inputs

Will they hook up through the TWC HDTV set top box through the DVI or through composite video inputs

One of the TVs  only can only show EDTV or 480p...what is the advantage going through the DVI input vs composite


the other has HDTV Display Capability 1080i ....what is the advantage going through the DVI input vs composite video

I think the advantage of using the DVI input is that the signal is kept digital the whole time.  With component or RGB the tuner converts the digital signal to analog and then the tv has to convert the analog back to digital.  I'm not an expert though.

I think you mean component not composite.  I think composite is restricted to 480i.

I use the DVI on my Toshiba TV. I think I get a much better picture this way than using the component. I ordered a DVI cable so I used the component cable for a week or so before switching and there was a noticable difference. I also like the quality of the analog stations using the DVI. Of course your setup may be different.
