I am going to call TWC to order my new install  for HDTV any hints what to ask for or watch out for

Thanks

My experience has been good with the service from TW.  They offer more in HD than Directtv. Also no dish to buy. Have been very happy with the HD and service.

I agree.  Ask for the new Pioneer box, though.  They may or may not have one...can't hurt to ask, though.

Having HD from TWC is good for locals and the HD from HBO and Showtime. Make sure you opt for the extra $15 for you to get the HBO and Showtime with about  30 extra  SD channels in addition to the HD channels 500 & 501 -this is something you will not get in number for price with Directv. Also get cables to hook up your S-Video and analog-channel sound from the HD box to your TV and sound system. This is so you can get the sound from the 2-99 channels and to eliminate the bars on the side of your screen when watching non-HD channels (using the S-Video connection), if you cannot obtain the Pioneer box that is so popular with our forum. :)
Soon they will offer Discovery HD Theater, we have been told, at no additional cost unlike Directv along with others channels, soon.
Use a good component-video cable for your picture connections for HD, not the ones they give you from TWC. Radio shack may offer a thicker, more shielded cable for better thoughput. My preference is the Monster 2 component video cable 2-meter as it allows for long enough on average connection from the equipment rack to the bottom (usually) of the HD set's connections.
Hope this helps and good luck!
