I used thequestion mark icon on this post to avoid anyone getting their hopes up that I had some inside information...

We know that Fox sports has announced that they will broadcast one game per week in their ugly, edge-enhanced crappily converted, yet still widescreen format.

We also know (or at least have told) that Fox 6 will have a real HD signal up sometime "early this Fall."

Does anyone know where we can find WHICH game will be the Widescreen game each week? My guess is that it will be one of the 3:15 games, but a guess is all that is.

If that WERE the case it could be some of these:

Sun., Sept. 22  at Detroit Lions
Sun., Oct. 20 Washington Redskins
Sun., Dec. 15 at San Francisco 49ers
Sun., Dec. 29 at New York Jets

Sure would be nice to know ahead of time...

P.S. I posted the same question up at AVS, and unfortunately succeed only in getting them all riled up about Fox Widescreen all over again.

I am kinda curious what you mean by FOX will have a real HD signal up sometime this fall. Do you know something we dont? I didnt think it was FOX policy to do HD...atleast not this year.
I was hoping that we would catch a game or two on CBS (NFL) now that we know they have two, 2, two HD production trucks. I am having a "guys from work" party next Saturday for the Miami vs. Florida college football game. I though it would be a great game to show football HD to the regular workin man. The guys are kinda excited about football in HD and this will put them over the edge!
Go CBS!

Sorry... didn't meant to give anyone a false hope... what I meant was full power signal..

Talking quantity (kilowatts), not quality (lines of resolution).

Ok Ok.  Please let me know if I understand this correctly.
Assumptions:
1. Fox 6 currently has a digital signal although you have to live at the base of the antenna to actually receive it (I live only 2 miles from the stations so I hope I qualify).

2. Football (aka packers) will be broadcast in 480p by mid October.

Question:
If I were to by a OTA receiver today and hook it up to my hdtv ready monitor, would I get any 480P programing today from Fox or 480P football (again Packers) in October regardless of Fox's digital hardware upgrades scheduleded somewhere in the next 6 to 8 weeks?

I just want to understand and spend my money wisely.

Thanks for your help.

Richard first off the transmitter is not at their tower site it is on their wx radar tower at their studio and the main lobe of the antenna is pointed SW...so you may not even be able to receive.  And right now all they are transmitting is 480i, yes i.  That means they are running 480 lines with interlace, scan every other line each second, the interleaving lines the next second and so on.  This is what current analog TV is right now. However you won't have a ghosting problem.  480p, which is progressive scan is like a DVD, so when they do enable and do widescreen 480p it will be an improvement, but it's nothing like 1080i or it's lesser cousin 780p.

So in the interim stay tuned to 4, 10, 58 and your dish.

And 6 will not be doing anything other than what they are doing now until they upgrade their switching in their studios, so don't hold your breath for the Fox enhanced wide screen.
