Thanx for the preseason, I am watching a little of tonights game, and it seems that the camera operators/technical folks are getting better. They were obious neophytes on the packer broadcast. It can only get better!

I agree tonights game definitely looks better than the Packer game did.

As an added bonus, it's always nice to see the Bucs getting their a**es handed to them. (even if it's only pre-season)   ;)

Yep it did look good.  I must admit that 720p converted to 1080i looks just as good as 1080i native football to me, maybe even better.  As far as I am concerned ABC is the clear cut leader in sound quality, and now I would have to argue they only take a backseat to PBS in picture quality.

I would have to say that 1080i football looked sharper then 720p. Not alot better but it is better to me. I have noticed that the 720p's Slo-mo looked better. In the PBS Demo loop there is this guy trotting this horse on a dirt horse track in Slo-mo and you can see the horse stutter a bit. The 720p seems to have a better frame rate in Slo-mo. Then again.... the PBS demos were filmed 3-4 years ago with slightly older cameras. I'm sure the newer ones have faster frame rates for 1080i's Slo-mo now.

Slow motion is definitely better on 720p.  There is one part of the PBS demo loop with quite a bit of slow motion.  I can't stand to see it.  I think 720p is 60 frames per second and 1080i is 30 frames per second, but I'm not sure.  If that is true, the age of the camera wouldn't be the major factor in poor 1080i slow motion vs. 720p.  I'm not an expert by any means.

I would like to have a side by side comparison some time.  I would need a HD recorder or something to do it these days.  Maybe in the future I will have the opportunity to watch 720p on one channel and 1080i on another.

Tonight is 480p widescreen.  It doesn't compare to either 720p or 1080i....
