I didn't have the patience to wait. Turned it on  and my sound was intermittent.

What a joke! But I wasn't laughing...

I didn't start watching until about 8:20, and I was switching between Madison and Milwaukee.  Picture and sound were about the same, so I watched Madison.  I didn't notice anything unusual.

Pat

I watched it in its entirety with no sound problems (or video problems, for that matter) at all.  So the sound data was there to be received.  I didn't notice what format it had.

Nova is my favorite show, PBS or otherwise, so I was well pleased.

borghe

Alas I had to miss it.   Will have to try and catch more HD programs in WMVS.

I also missed it, had to work last night.  I'm confused, some got it fine others didn't.  I see that Greg has an RCA, what do the others have?

I actually forgot about it, but it will be rerun on Friday.

Also a heads up - I know you have probably already seem them by Shrek is on HBO HD tomorrow night (8pm) and Gladiator is on Saturday (9:15pm) also on HBO HD.

These two films are supposed to have some of the best pictures out there.

I was watching NOVA from the beginning last night and did not notice any problems with the audio.  Curious that some did and others did not.

Also...

Did anyone catch the program AFTER Nova?  Was that the PBS "LOOP"?  It was the first time I saw it and I really was terribly impressed.  Please advise.

I had the intermittent sound problem all night on 10-1. I even tried switching to the PCM down conversion to no avail. I gave up watching, but I did check occasionally. How many people who didnt get this problem just running their TV speakers instead of a digital connection? I wonder if that was where the problem lies ?
I have the DTC-100 connected only with a optical digital cable to my receiver.

I have the DTC 100 built in so it's not a  connection problem.  The audio seemed to work from 7:25 until I had to go at about 8 though.

Had no sound problems at all (Toshiba DST3000).  I do not use the speakers in my TV, ever.  The program that followed, from the affiliates in SC, PA and Washington DC was magic.  Hope to see more of that kind of HD programming and I hope they re-run that one.

Okay we've got 2 DTC100's that had problems...let's see what other receivers had problems and then we'll let WMVS-DT know.  I know if Jim Hall had a problem like this at 58 he would want to know.  I'm sure with the investment made they really want it to work will all models.  I just read an interesting article in Broadcast Engineering about DVD mastering and all the checks that they go through to make sure the master works on all makes of DVD players before duplicating.....I guess the same goes for the transmission OTA in digital.

Just like Matt, I also have my DTC-100 connected only with a optical digital cable to my receiver. Sound problems discussed above...
