Hughes Seeks DirecTV Beta Testers
Hughes Seeks DirecTV Beta Testers

Hughes Network Systems is looking for current DirecTV subscribers to beta test its latest satellite television products. Applicants must be a current customer in good standing and have Internet access. Testers will be asked to perform tests as needed and fill out bug reports.

DirecTV has garnered a fair amount of media attention this year, as speculation swirled over who would purchase the company. Earlier this month, General Motors sold Hughes and DirecTV to News Corp. in a $6.6 billion deal.

AOL, however, recently broke off its long-standing agreement with Hughes to market satellite broadband server to AOL subscribers.

Interested DirecTV users can apply to become a beta tester by filling out a brief survey covering satellite setup and viewing habits. More information is available on Hughes' DirecTV Receiver Beta Test site.

Here is the link for the application:

One of their questions is what type of Directv box do you have, and list gold, silver, platinum, TIVO, etc.  I can answer for the tivo box, but I didn't know there were classifications such as this for the other boxes.  It's black and can get 5.1 audio and its about 4-5 years old.  ????

Yep the page has been removed from their site...so I would guess they got more responses than they needed.  Hope you all got to fill it out.
