Hello,

I am recarpeting my frontroom and only have cheap speaker wire running right now. What is the best bang for the buck speaker wire I can get? I want to run the wire before the house gets recarpeted on Thursday.

Thank You

Gregg Lengling

When it comes to speaker wire there is no reason to spend big bucks on the so-call Monster Wire.....Monster wire is great when it comes to Coaxial type for Video ect...but with speakers Wire is Wire.   HOWEVER>>>>>>

Buy stranded wire...good copper...depending on the length of run and the power output of your amplifier decides your gauge of wire.  I use 14 gauge stranded on all my speakers.....although in Medium power situations with short runs 16 guage will do.  You can probably buy a good roll of 14 or 16 gauge at Radio Shack.

pound for pound the best (and only) speaker wire I use is Kimber Cable from Audio Emporium... You can go as cheap as $1.80/foot or go nicer all the way up to $14/foot. It is what I have all of my speakers wired with (except my sub which is Mogami).
