Problems with 510 (pbs loop) on TWC?

Has anybody else had problems with the PBS loop on 510 on TWC.  Mine was fine until Friday, when it seems like the signal just went to pieces, just for that channel.  Now it barely comes in, its all pixelated when it does come in, and the sound is choppy.  All my other HD channels work fine.  I'm just curious to see if anybody else has this problem, or if it is just something that happened to me.  Thanks!

I had the same problem with getting bad or no picture on the PBS demo loop.

I had recently installed a cable splitter so my wife could watch "normal" TV easier.  First, all the HD channels were pixelated and PBS Loop was blank.  After reworking the wires, the other HD channels came in but PBS was bad.

When I bypassed all of the splitting and used a new cable direct to the box, everything, including the PBS loop looked great.

I think HD requires a stronger cable signal than conventional channels and the PBS loop seems to require slightly more signal than other HD signals.

Just a theory.

Your signal strength can also be too high for HD.

I started having problems a few months ago where the PBS demo and then eventually all HD and dig channels would go green/black. TWC came out and checked my level and found it to be far more than adequate. I'm not sure what they did, but the problem was fixed outside my unit about a week later. They had probably been a little overzealous on the amplification.

The station was coming in fine up until Friday, when it just seemed to drop out.  It's the only channel that I have a problem with.  Everything else is fine.  It's very odd.  Has anybody else heard of this?

It looks from your locations that this might be a TWC problem.  I would be interested to know if it is happening in other areas?

Sounds like an RF level issue.  If that's the case, 551-554 should also be bad...
With spring in the air, ice is turning to water and can be sucked up into damaged underground cable.  This in turn can cause RF response problems.  I'm not saying that is your specific problem, but it could be one of several possibilities... this must be checked into by a tech via a service call to be sure.
As a general rule, don't mess with your home wiring.  If you must, use 5-750MHz or 5-1GHz RF splitters and NEVER crimp the F fittings with a pliers.  If you don't have the proper tools to prep and terminate the fittings, call TW to add an outlet.  It can save you pains in the long run.
