Quote"SURVIVOR" SURVIVES

Channel 58 had a dilemma this week. With low-power sister Channel 41 locked up with a girl's high school basketball tournament, the CBS station had to carry Thursday's Marquette basketball game, which airs at 6 p.m.

But Thursday night is CBS' biggest night, starting with "Survivor" at 7 p.m.

What's a network affiliate to do?

Well, general manager Jim Hall got CBS to allow the station to push back the entire prime-time schedule, so "Survivor" will start at 8 p.m. or so - depending on how long the game runs - followed by "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Without a Trace."

Channel 58 won't be carrying Thursday's post-game show, however.- http://www.jsonline.com/enter/tvradio/mar03/124590.asp

Any chance of not doing this with the HD side or giving us a west coast feed? How about running the girl's high school game in Spanish for the educational experience of it? ;)

I wondered about this.  I don't think they have the ability to record HD so any delay puts everything into SD.  Here is a chance where multicasting could be used to run the game in SD while showing the HD material on the main feed.  Too bad their locked into carrying 41 and 63 all the time.

I also thought of the logistics of this.

But let's say that they just send the national HD feed out on 1-1, beginning at 7:00. Survivor at 7:00, CSI at 8:00, Without a Trace at 9:00.  What happens at 10:00?  Do they just show Without a Trace again in SD when they synch back up with their main feed? Yikes...

The other option would be to put the other game on 63. But with basketball on two subchannels, and Hi Def on the main one... Sounds like the Mother of All Bandwidth battles. ;)

I take it back. Keep Univision on. ;)

Uds. deben mirar la llegada de estas estrellas más bonitas para el "Tributo a Celia Cruz" en vez de 1.1 y 1.2.

No HD on CBS it seems.
