HDTV PVR features ATSC terrestrial tuner with an 80-gigabyte hard disc recorder for 8 hours of HDTV recording

DALLAS, Mar. 12, 2003 -- The U.S. unveiling of the world's first high-definition television (HDTV) personal video recorder (PVR) will be made at Starpower's bi-annual "High Definition Expo-Spring 2003," starting March 14. The HD PVR, being introduced by Zenith Electronics Corporation, will be demonstrated for U.S. consumers for the first time during the three-day event.

Starpower, a home theater retailer and installer, coupled with Zenith will showcase the Zenith HDR230 receiver/personal video recorder.

Zenith's Director of Technology and Set-top Box Product Manager Matt Majid, who will attend the Starpower event, explained that the HDR230 combines Zenith's latest-generation ATSC terrestrial tuner with an 80-gigabyte hard disc recorder allowing storage of high-definition broadcasts and playback of more than eight hours of HDTV programming via RGB, component, S-video, audio- video outputs, and Dolby digital outputs. The HDTV recorder is laden with advanced digital and programming features and will be available in the May time frame at a suggested price of $999.

In addition to the new Zenith HD PVR, Starpower also will demonstrate a $75,000 movie theater quality CRT video projector, one-of- a-kind $36,000 plus pair of XA reference speakers, and six separate areas for the latest state-of-the-art in home theater systems, formats, demonstrations, accessories, and latest in home automation.
