I am looking at possibly  buying the MIT's 65-711 . Does anyone know how to determine the manufacture date via the serial #..

I dont know about a serial number, but all Mit's have the manufacturing date printed on the back of the set, just above the powercord.

My "technician" came out last week for fixing my new Mits and all I can say is that I will not buy ANYTHING from that store again.
This was an uncomfortable experience and an unnerving one as he said the screen I received, though  badly chipped, that  I could have used it anyway-ON A NEW SET??? No way!
He replaced it with the one I had waited 2 weeks for with complaint, so I called the customer service manager while he was at my house installing a new one, with his comments and I complained about his whole "attitude".
The second thing bad about the set was - the brown righthand edge of the picture, especially at the bottom righthand corner of the set is discolored, and I was told that this is "normal" and it will go away. I have NEVER seen this in the sets I have had delivered to other clients' homes upon first turn-on, or in stores. How "normal" is this? On the black and white part of the setup in the Avia test disc,  the right-side edges look like "parchment" as they are so brown!
So I will docket this problem with a service note as "unsatisfied"!Note to self: WHERE you buy from and their reputation, is as important as price and features.
The "discount" you get can mean more than just the price for the item, but the followup and service afterward.
