Can it be done?

I'm on TW, so I don't get HDnet. But a show is starting on March 9th that I realy want to see (HD or not).

March 9 Beautiful Landscapes of Japan
11 episodes of beautiful scenery and color from gardens of Japan.

I'm not sure about the TW box, but it must have a regular "video out" that would get composite video into the "line in " on your VCR.  Like the Hughes 86, there might be a button that you'll have to push to change it from 1080I to 480p.  Every hd tuner I've seen allows you to choose from the digital stream output to composite.  Sorry again that I'm not familiar with the back and outputs of the TW box
