A Local Plug For HD ????

Did anyone happen to catch the local promo for HD on NBC? I was vacuuming the living room, and I glanced up at the TV, and caught the last few seconds of what seemed to be a local promo for HD by the Area Broadcasters Something ? This was just a few minutes ago during the 6pm news. By the time I turned the vacuum off, it was over. What I did catch though showed a widescreeen picture of flowers, and then an announcer saying something about "catching it live", with a HD type logo on the bottom of the picture.
Thats all I got, heres hoping someone else caught it, or knows about it....Sean?

That would be so excellent if this broadcast group actually was doing local plugs for HD! I did only have the standard signal on though, so I dont know if the actual spot was in HD or not. Anyways...keep your eyes peeled for this!

I didn't see the particular spot, but here's a guess:

The Wisconsin Broadcaster's Association is sponsoring a booth in a room at the Wisconsin Products Pavilion at the State Fair.

Typically there is at least one engineer from a WI tv station there and salepeople from the local stores.  They display several TVs and will have a STB or two.

I'll give you a hint of local interest. There is an engineer scheduled to be there on the 1st and 2nd Thursday and the Wednesday of the fair run at 3:00 to close.  (Might be a good chance to ask about the eagle.......)

All of the other engineers that signed up (that I know of) are from out of town.

Remember, it's not the engineer's fault of what is on tv, just their job to get it there.   But it wouldn't hurt to get names from the engineers of who to harrass.

enjoy the show.

Uplinkguy is correct. Channel’s 4 and 58 (and maybe others) are running commercials for the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association HDTV booth at the State Fair. The booth is in the Wisconsin Products Pavilion.
I have not heard anything about any special over the air programming. There’s no information on the WBA’s site: http://www.wi-broadcasters.org/
But the staffing schedule is on the Madison Society of Broadcast Engineers Web site: http://www.sbe24.org/EVENTS/hdtvbooth.asp

Thats what I saw. I guess you would need to see the whole spot to understand. I saw literally the last 5 seconds, most of that without sound.
I am encouraged though that broadcasters are getting the word out about HD. I will be visiting them at the State Fair for sure.

We should have some way of recognizing each other at the Fair.  Hmmmm, how about a scripted question and answer like the spies do on TV.  How about this,

Question
"Which is harder to see, an eagles nest at night or Channel 6's digital signal"

Answer
"Frankly, I don't get either one"

How about we do a screen print order for T-shirts.....Lost and missing ....channel 33, WITI-DT, if found please return it to it's proper home on the big tower by the river.
Please make sure it's mounted high on the tower not like channel 34's (WISN-DT) which is at 0 feet AGL (above ground level).

PS...accepting donations for replacement 9 volt batteries.

Gregg -

GREAT idea ... I think the idea of a milwaukeehdtv.org t-shirt is right on.

My wife and I *always* attend State Fair (to see Sigmund Snopek, he's a friend) and will definitely be hitting that booth, as we did last year. As a matter of fact, I bought my set one week after State Fair and that booth helped 'tip' the decision.

Anyone want to take a hack at design ? I'll try if no-one else wants to.

I know that Tom S. could set-up credit card acceptance. Heck, our shirt should have his company's logo on it for sponsorship !!

Gregg Lengling

I suck as an artist so have at it...I'm all for it....we can do credit card or even PayPal...I use PayPal for incoming paments from on line customers more than Credit cards.
  Let's do it.

We can take Credit Card payments for the BBS and Chat software online (basically those payments would be applied to an open inovice), but T-Shirts would be a bit trickier...I try setti g that up, and you may end up seeing me on the news getting carted away in cuffs like that guy from Adelphia!

Paypal would be the route to go for those...

Ok, I'll start designing the shirts.

My wife will do all the 'leg' work regarding finding a printer (probably here in MenoFalls unless someone has a better connection).

I'll post a design either today (7/26) or tomorrow.

Todd big KUDOS from all of us for you Significant Other taking the ball and running with it.  Now if the linemen will just let her score a touchdown.  Oh and don't forget the Lambeau Leap.

She loves doing that kind of stuff ...

Look for a design soon !

RickNeff

Once the design is made, I know that HDTVoice.com has their own shop that uses CafePress.com as an online "storefront."

Maybe either of this links would be useful: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/  http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/store.aspx?s=hdtvoice

Especially, if this were to be more than a one-time thing for State Fair.

I know I'd want a shirt too since we tend to go to State Fair every year.

Count me in. I will probably order more than one.

Ugh.

Photoshop decided to stop working at home so I was not able to do the design over the weekend. Sorry.

I'm going to reload and get it done.
